Israeli policeman sentenced to 8 months for killing Palestinian in cold-blood

Hazim Adel Abu Al Dab’at, 22
An Israeli court on Tuesday sentenced a policeman to eight months in jail for killing a Palestinian Jerusalemite youth while handcuffed.
The policeman agreed with prosecution on confessing to the crime and that it was accidental in return for an eight-month imprisonment term.
The indictment list said that the policeman fired at the youth after arresting him on 14 September 2010. It claimed that the shot was accidently fired while an eyewitness testified that the policeman insulted the youth before shooting him.
Hazem Abul Dabaat was killed after detaining him along with his two friends Amjad Shahin and Mohammed Shuweiki in one of the Tel Aviv streets.
Both Shahin and Shuweiki said that the Israeli police stopped their car and asked for their IDs before an altercation took place and the policeman fired at their friend while handcuffed and sitting on the ground.
Abul Dabaat family charged that the sentence was racist, adding that it was a cold-blooded murder.

Israeli court acquits Israeli soldier of murdering Palestinian

The human rights group B'Tselem said an Israeli court acquitted an Israeli officer of killing in cold blood a Palestinian citizen called Firas Qasqas four years ago.
This court decision came four years after a senior Israeli officer killed Qasqas who was hundreds of meters away and unarmed, and constituted no threat to anyone.
This court exoneration was issued after B'Tselem filed a petition with the higher court last February demanding the military prosecutor to take action against the officer.

Soldier arrested over suspected rape

Teenager says soldier raped her at Tel Aviv's Amsterdam club while she was drunk. Soldier claims relations were consensual
The Tel Aviv police have arrested an IDF soldier over suspicions that he raped a 17-year-old girl at the Amsterdam club in Tel Aviv. It is believed the girl was raped while she was drunk, which has led to the club's closure. The soldier denies the charges yet police have asked that the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extend his remand.
A few days ago the Tel Aviv police received information from the Wolfson Medical Center about a 17-year-old girl who was a suspected rape victim. The girl approached the sex crimes victims unit at the station with her mother. Investigators took her statement in which she told them of the horrific experience she underwent on night out at the Amsterdam club on Menachem Begin Street in Tel Aviv. She said that she arrived at the club with her best friend and met a soldier there.
She claims that while she was drunk the suspect dragged her to the club's restrooms where he raped her – even though she asked him to leave her alone. He then left the club. Police detectives who believe the girl's version of events, rushed to the club where they sought security tapes. Meanwhile, police issued a 30 day closure order for the club stating it was in the "interest of public safety."
After a few days the police managed to locate and arrest the soldier. During his interrogation the suspect denied that he raped the girl, but placed himself at the scene when he claimed the act was consensual. Police are investigating whether the girl's drinks were purchased in the club.
