In 2002, 25 prisoners died in Israeli jails, most of them were deliberately shot by Israeli soldiers shortly after their arrest.
Dozens of Palestinian detainees suffering from chronic diseases also died shortly after their release from Israeli jails because they did not receive proper medical care inside jails.
The center called on human rights groups to necessarily reveal the real reasons behind the death of 206 Palestinian prisoners during their detention and provide protection for the Palestinians in Israeli jails.

Amer Abu Eisha and Marwan al-Qawasmi
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) claimed responsibility for the murder of two Palestinian youths suspected of kidnapping three Israeli soldiers in al-Khalil a few months ago, the Israeli radio broadcasted on Tuesday. According to the broadcast, an armed clash flared up in al-Jamia neighborhood, in al-Khalil, between the Israeli occupation troops and special units and the two wanted Palestinian youths, Amer Abu Eisha and Marwan al-Qawasmi. Scores of unarmed Palestinian youngsters were kidnapped in the process under the pretext that they might have partaken in hiding the suspects.
A special Israeli military force, escorted by the so-called Yamam unit, had suddenly invaded the place where the two suspects were believed to be hiding, the Israeli Yediot Ahranot newspaper said.
The Shin Bet security apparatus said the two Palestinian youngsters were killed during the gunfight.
Sometime earlier, large Israeli occupation patrols overnight targeted a number of Palestinian family homes and shops in al-Jamia residential neighborhood with arbitrary demolitions after having cordoned off the area and unleashed heavy barrages of bullet fire and sound bombs.
The invading undercover troops wrapped up the attack by knocking down a home owned by one of al-Qawasmi’s relatives and ransacked others, using a bulldozer and a digger.
Random waves of live ammunition and crossfire were unleashed in the process so as to force the civilian inhabitants to evacuate their homes. A number of al-Qawasmi’s family members were rounded up throughout the attack.
The Israeli occupation soldiers further raided Palestinian civilian tower apartments and deployed at their rooftops in an attempt to keep tabs on all of the entry and exit doors.
At the same time, a drove of Israeli spying drones kept hovering in al-Khalil’s airspace, spreading a state of unparalleled panic among women and children.
Another Israeli occupation unit broke into Abu Eisha’s family home in al-Khalil’s al-Sir neighborhood and nabbed a number of unarmed Palestinian youngsters before dragging them to an unidentified destination.
The murder has been claimed a few months after the Israeli occupation army launched the so-called retaliatory “Bring Back our Brothers” campaign, in the wake of which 773 innocent Palestinian civilians were rounded up while dozens of family homes have either been demolished or ransacked under pretext of searching for the potential kidnap suspects.

Raed Ja'bari
The cellmate of 37-year-old Raed Abdul-Salaam al-Ja’bari, who died on September 9th while in Israeli custody, has spoken out about Raed's death, telling a lawyer that Israeli prison guards took his cellmate by force and, within 15 minutes, came back and told him that Raed was dead.
Mohammad Said al-Azza had shared a cell with Raed, and said that the two were being transferred at the time of Raed's death. The guards had taken the two men, along with a third prisoner, to a transport vehicle, and moved them to Eshel prison.
While Mohammad remained in the vehicle, the other two prisoners were taken inside the facility. Less than 15 minutes later, according to Mohammad al-Azza, the Israeli guards came back to the vehicle and told him that Raed was dead.
Al-Azza said that he began shouting in protest, and was pushed and kicked by the guards in the vehicle, and driven to the Israeli prison facility in Ashkelon.
Initially, Israeli officials denied having anything to do with the death of Raed al-Ja'bari, saying that he had 'hung himself in a bathroom'. But Palestinian officials demanded an independent autopsy, which found that the young man had suffered a brain hemorrhage, and that his body showed clear signs of torture. In addition, no sign of injury consistent with hanging was found on his neck.
Mohammad al-Azza gave his account of the event to Nassim Abu Ghosh, a lawyer from the Palestinian Authority Prisoner Affairs department. The PA has demanded a full investigation and for consequences to be imposed on those responsible for the beating death of Raed al-Ja'bari.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine issued a statement upon the death of Raed al-Ja'bari, calling for “immediate united action of the prisoners’ movement, through the prisoners’ national leadership struggling for the rights of the prisoners and the entire Palestinian people, and defying any attempts to divide the movement, which provides the enemy with opportunities to continue its policies against Palestinian land and people, including the prisoners.”

Raed al-Ja'bari
Issa Qaraqe’, head of the Detainees’ Committee at the Palestinian Authority, stated that detainee Raed Abdul-Salaam al-Ja’bari, 37, died after being severely and repeatedly tortured by Israeli interrogators.
Qaraqe’ accused Israel of committing two main crimes against al-Ja’bari by alleging he hanged himself in his cell, and by trying to falsify and hide the leading cause of death, which is extreme and brutal torture.
Talking at a press conference from the mourning house of al-Ja’bari in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Qaraqe’ said the autopsy, conducted at the forensic center in Abu Dis, near occupied Jerusalem, concluded that al-Ja’bari was tortured to death.
He said the autopsy proved that al-Ja’bari suffered brain hemorrhage, and that his body showed clear signs of torture, adding that Israeli claims which allege that the slain detainee “committed suicide by hanging himself” are false and evident fabrications, especially since his neck does not show any signs of hanging.
“The autopsy was supposed to be carried out Wednesday, but it was conducted today at the Abu Kabeer Forensic Center, while Dr. Saber al-‘Aloul, head of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, attended the autopsy but Israel prevented him from making any statements," Qaraqe’ said.
“After we received the body of al-Ja’bari, we moved him to the Forensic Center in Abu Dis. All reports clearly show al-Ja’bari was tortured to death; he was brutally and savagely tortured by the Israeli interrogators," he added. “The main cause of death is repeated blows to the head and face, leading to hemorrhage, eventually resulting in his death.
Raed Abdul-Salam al-Ja’bari died on September 9, 2014.
He worked as a car mechanic technician; he is a married father of five children.
He was first kidnapped and arrested by Israeli soldiers on July 26, 2014, after a traffic accident Israel alleged that, during which, he intentionally rammed a settler.
An Israeli court ordered his release, on an 8000 NIS bail, but the Israeli prosecution filed an appeal, keeping al-Ja’bari held at Ofer prison.
On September 3, he was moved to the Eshil Israeli prison, and was placed into solitary confinement. He was then moved to the Soroka Medical Center where he died, on Tuesday.

35-year-old prisoner Ra'ed Al-Jabari, from Al-Khalil city, was proclaimed dead on Tuesday in an Israeli jail. The Palestinian prisoner society said that Jabari died in Eshel jail under mysterious circumstances and held his jailers fully responsible for his death.
Abdul-Salam al-Jabari, the prisoner's father, accused Israel of killing his son and demanded an immediate investigation.
The father said that Ra'ed spoke to his wife and children on Sunday and was in a good physical condition.
The Israeli prison authority claimed that the prisoner committed suicide, but the Palestinian prisoner society belied the Israeli allegation and called for international probe into the cause of his death.
In a separate incident, more than 40 Palestinian families of prisoners in al-Khalil on Monday handed the Red Cross a protest petition against Israel's confiscation of their prison visit permits.
The petition was submitted during a sit-in organized by the families outside the Red Cross headquarters in the city.
The families appealed to the Red Cross to seriously move to enable them to see their sons regularly in Israeli jails and pressure the Israeli side to end its arbitrary measures against all relatives of prisoners.
Israeli intelligence officers at Addahirya and Tarqoumiya checkpoints last week prevented over 40 Palestinian families from al-Khalil from visiting their relatives and sons in Ramon jail and confiscated their visit permits.

Wa’el Salim Mustafa 39
A Jordanian family is accusing Israel of arresting and torturing their son to death, after detaining him during a protest, in Tel Aviv, in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.
The family in Amman – Jordan said Wa’el Salim Mustafa, 39, told the France Press news agency that he was detained by the Israeli police during a protest against the Israeli war on Gaza, was subject to extreme torture by Israeli interrogators, and died around a week ago, on the third day out the Muslim feast of al-Fitr.
His brother, Qoteiba, stated that the Israeli Authorities contacted the family asking them to come over and sign documents permitting Israeli doctors “to perform a needed surgery”, but once the family arrived in Tel Aviv, they were told he was dead.
Qoteiba added that the body of his brother showed clear marks of extreme torture, and also had a swollen face, swollen eye sockets, several broken ribs, and various cuts and bruises all over his body.
He left Jordan around 18 months ago, and travelled to Tel Aviv and Haifa, where we worked construction jobs.
Israel is refusing to provide further details on the issue, while the family has filed an official complaint against Israel and the Israeli Prison Administration, and is asking for another autopsy to reveal the causes of death.
A Jordanian security source said Jordan formed a committee to oversee the autopsy that would be performed at a Jordanian Hospital, adding that initial examination shows clear bruises, and fractures, in the head, chest and several other body parts.
It also revealed that a sharp blow to the head caused brain hemorrhage, that eventually led to death. An official report will be issued at a later stage.
Israel alleges Wa’el “fell during interrogation, and died later on”.
Israel and Jordan signed a peace agreement in 1994. Despite the fact that all Israelis can travel to Jordan, most Jordanian males are not allowed to travel to Tel Aviv, and are forced to go through the Arab side of the border terminal with Jordan, thus, are “granted” access to the West Bank and not to historic Palestine, including Jerusalem.
Israeli interrogators torture Jordanian citizen to death in Tel Aviv
A Jordanian citizen working in Tel Aviv was reportedly killed under torture by Israeli interrogators following his detention on allegations of his illegal stay in Israel. The Israeli side claimed that 39-year-old Jordanian citizen Wael Mustafa died after he fell to the ground during an interrogation session.
Qutaiba, the brother of the victim, belied the Israeli claims and explained that Wael had worked in Tel Aviv for about one and a half year and was in a good health condition when he was arrested four days ago.
He added that his brother was tortured to death on the same day of his detention and there were signs of torture on his body.
After the Jordanian authorities contacted the Israeli side, the body of Wael Mustafa was transferred to Amman where it was autopsied at Al-Bashir hospital.
According to a Jordanian forensic report, Wa'el died because he suffered from bleeding in the brain, fractured libs and multiple bruises on the chest, which indicated his exposure to torture at the hands of Israeli interrogators.
