A Palestinian youth was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning, hours after he was brutally assaulted by Israeli forces when they arrested him from his home in the occupied West Bank.
Bashir al-Rimawi said his brother Mohamed was kidnapped by Israeli forces and violently beaten all the way through.
He added that his brother was transferred to Abu Kabir Forensic Center in territories occupied in 1948 for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Mohamed, aged 24, was aggressively beaten by Israeli soldiers using riffle buts until he fell into a coma. He was dragged to an unknown location shortly afterwards.
Palestinian Beaten to Death by Israeli Soldiers
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) has reported that Israeli soldiers killed, on Tuesday at dawn, a young Palestinian man after abducting him from his home, and repeatedly assaulting him.
The PPS said undercover Israeli soldiers abducted Mohammad Zaghloul al-Khatib, 24, from his home in Beit Rima town, northwest of Ramallah, in central West Bank.
It quoted his brother stating that nearly 30 Israeli soldiers invaded the family home to abduct Mohammad, before continuously and repeatedly assaulting him in his home until he fell unconscious.
He added that the soldiers then took him brother to an unknown destination, and the family was later contacted by an Israeli intelligence officer, asking them whether Mohammad had any “preexisting conditions,” and they assured the officer that their son was completely healthy.
His mother said that the soldiers beat him on the head, then smashed his head several times against the wall until he fell down, unconscious. They handcuffed his prone body, then left the scene, leaving him unconscious and handcuffed with no medical attention.
On Tuesday morning, the Palestinian District Coordination Office was contacted by its Israeli counterpart, informing them that Mohammad was dead, without setting a date for transferring his corpse back to his family.
The family said the soldiers resorted to the excessive use of force against Mohammad, continuously beating him up while abducting him, and accused the military of executing their son.
They stated that the soldiers started beating Mohammad up immediately after breaking into his room, and continued to assault him until he lost consciousness before the soldiers carried him and left the building.
Addameer Prisoner Support organization said that Mohammad’s brother told them that a large group of undercover soldiers entered the home at 4 am and assaulted his mother, before regular army units invaded the house and forced the parents and three children into one corner of the house. They then took Mohammad to another room, where they punched, kicked and clubbed him, and beat him with rifle butts until he fell unconscious.
Mohammad was previously shot by the Israeli military two years ago, in the leg.
Addameer stated that, “Killing this young man, who posed no threat to the soldiers, violates international law”. The group added, “This lethal, excessive use of force is an extrajudicial assassination”. The group called on the United Nations to form a committee to investigate this and other crimes by the Israeli military.
The PPS held Israel fully responsible for killing Mohammad, and added that this crime is added “to a long lost of similar crimes and executions, carried out by the soldiers against Palestinian detainees.”
It added that the army has killed 217 Palestinian political prisoners, since Israel occupied the rest of Palestine in 1967.
The PPS stated that the silence of the international human rights organizations is granting Israel a green light to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people, especially since Israel continues to violate the basic rights of the Palestinians with impunity.
The PPS also said that approximately %95 of the Palestinians who are abducted and imprisoned by the Israeli army have been subjected to various forms of torture, during their arrest, and during interrogation.
Furthermore, the PPS stated that Mohammad is the third Palestinian detainee to be killed by the army this year, as the soldiers killed Yassin Saradeeh, 33, who was shot and beaten repeatedly while lying on the ground, on February 22nd, in addition to Aziz ‘Oweisat, 53, who died on May 20, at an Israeli hospital from serious complications after he was assaulted by several soldiers in the prison, when they claimed he attacked an officer with a sharp object.

Hebrew media sources on Thursday reported that Israel's Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan had requested that an order be issued to bury the body of the Palestinian martyr Aziz Oweisat, who died about two weeks ago, in the so-called "cemeteries of numbers".
Israel Hayom newspaper said that this request was submitted by Erdan to Israel's Minister of War Avigdor Lieberman.
This request came a few days after the Israeli authorities refused to hand over Oweisat's body to his family with the aim of putting more pressure on Hamas to reveal information about the Israeli soldiers captured in Gaza.
Oweisat's family had filed a petition to the Israeli Supreme Court demanding the return of their son's body.
Oweisat suffered severe bleeding and a heart attack after he was violently beaten by Israeli guards in Eshel prison on 2nd May.
Oweisat, a resident of Jabal al-Mukabber town south of Jerusalem, was arrested in 2014 and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The Israeli occupation authorities still detain the bodies of 249 Palestinian martyrs in the cemeteries of numbers and 10 martyrs in mortuaries and refuse to hand them over to their families.
Cemeteries of numbers are closed military cemeteries where Israel holds the remains of some Palestinian and Arab martyrs killed by its forces. The graves are marked with numbers rather than names. Neither the martyrs' families nor human rights organizations are allowed access to these cemeteries.

Israeli Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan has decided against transferring the corpse of a Palestinian detainee, who was died from complications after Israeli soldiers assaulted him in prison, back to his family for burial.
The detainee Aziz ‘Oweisat, 53, died a week ago while receiving treatment at an Israeli medical center; he suffered serious complications after he was assaulted by several Israeli soldiers in the prison, who claimed he attacked an officer with a sharp object.
Aziz suffered brain hemorrhage and a heart attack after the soldiers continuously assaulted him in Eshil Israeli prison, on May 2, 2018, and went into a coma before he was moved to Ramla Israeli Medical Center.
Later, the detainee was moved to Assaf Harofeh Medical Center due to the seriousness of his condition, but he suffered further deterioration, and was transferred to Tal HaShomer Medical Center.
On May 10th, 2018, he underwent heart surgery at Tal HaShomer Israeli Medical Center, but remained in a critical condition until he passed away.
Israeli sources said the head of the Israeli Internal Security Agency, and the Prison Authority, opposed Erdan’s decision, because it could lead to large-scale protests, especially during Ramadan.
They fear that this decision would also lead to further complications in the efforts to retrieve the corpses of Israeli soldiers who are believed to be killed, and held by Hamas in Gaza, since the Israeli offensive in 2014.
However, Erdan said this decision will not cause to clashes and tension in Jerusalem, and aims at pressuring Hamas to release the corpse of Israeli soldiers, without holding prisoner swap agreements.
The final decision remains in the hands of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission on Saturday unveiled a testimony by prisoner Feras Omari who met with slain prisoner Aziz Oweisat in the Bosta, a vehicle used for the transfer of Palestinian prisoners, while he was being transferred from Eshel prison to Ramle clinic on 7th May.
Oweisat died a few days ago from a heart attack he suffered after being brutally beaten by Israeli prison guards.
Feras Omari said that when he entered the Bosta he saw blue bruises all over Oweisat's face, adding that when he asked him about what happened he told him that 10 Israeli guards broke into his cell in Eshel prison on 2nd May and beat and punched him brutally.
"I noticed that he was suffering from pains in his chest and he could barely breathe," Omari said.
Commenting on this testimony, head of the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission Issa Qaraqe said that the results of the autopsy conducted for Oweista's body on 25th May showed bruises on his right waist and marks of chains on his hands and feet.
Qaraqe said that the Israel Prison Service (IPS) committed three crimes against Oweisat. First, Oweisat was suffering from heart problems. He underwent an open-heart surgery in 1998 and a cardiac catheterization in 2003. Despite the fact that the IPS was aware of his health condition, no proper treatment was offered to him, so his health kept worsening day by day.
Second, the Israeli guards' attack on Oweisat led to further deterioration in his health until he died from a heart attack on 20th May.
Third, Oweisat was violently beaten and assaulted although the IPS and the prison doctors were fully aware of his critical health condition. They were the reason behind the complications that he suffered after the attack and later led to his death.
Qaraqe stressed that this is a deliberate and complex crime that is added to an endless series of violations committed by the IPS against Palestinian prisoners and requires the intervention of the International Criminal Court.

Israeli magistrate court in Rishon Lezion city in 1948 Occupied Palestine decided on Tuesday to conducting an external medical check for the body of martyr Aziz Oweista, 53, who died in Israeli jails to figure out the reasons behind his death.
The director of the legal unit at Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission, Iyad Misk, said that the court will consider the results of the external check up and if the reasons are still not known, they will do an autopsy.
The court’s decision provided that a Palestinian physician will attend the autopsy operation in case there is a need for that, following a new court decision.

It is worth mentioning that the Detainees’ Committee filed an urgent appeal with an Israeli court asking for his release so that he could receive steady medical attention, and the court scheduled the hearing for May 25th. He did not make it to the hearing, however, since he died on May 20th.
The detainees in Israeli prisons and detention camps declared a three-day mourning period, and demanded that Israel be held accountable for its violations and crimes.

The head of the Palestinian Detainees’ Committee, Issa Qaraqe, accused Israel of deliberately killing the detainee, and called for establishing an international committee to investigate Israeli crimes and violations against the detainees.
On Sunday night, dozens of Palestinians held a procession in Jabal al-Mokabber neighborhood, before the soldiers invaded the area and engaged in an excessive use of force against them.
The soldiers fired several live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs, while many youngsters hurled stones at them.

Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission on Sunday filed a petition to the Israeli Supreme Court demanding the release of the bodies of slain Palestinians Mohammed Anbar and Mohammed Marshoud.
The Commission said in a statement that Sunday's petition was filed because the Israeli prosecution did not respond to the preliminary petition it had submitted previously for the same issue.
It added that procrastination has become an approach followed by the Israeli prosecution in dealing with the petitions filed by the Commission with respect to the detained martyrs.
Mohammed Anbar, 46, died early April a few days after he was shot by Israeli soldiers near Jbara checkpoint in Tulkarem.
Mohammed Marshoud, 30, died in April also of wounds he sustained after an Israeli settler shot him in al-Khan al-Ahmar area between Jerusalem and Jericho.
In another context, a report released by the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission revealed that the sick prisoners held at Ramla prison hospital are suffering from severe health problems and some of them are in real danger.
The report noted that the prisoners are denied proper treatment and only given painkillers.

A Palestinian man died in Israeli custody on Sunday when he succumbed to wounds sustained last week when he was shot by Israeli forces at a checkpoint in the northern occupied West Bank city of Tulkarem.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) released a statement saying that Muhammad Anbar, 46, who was shot and injured by Israeli forces on April 2, died of his wounds on Sunday morning in an Israeli hospital.
Anbar was being held at the at Meir hospital in Tel Aviv when he was pronounced dead.
According to PPS, he was shot and injured by Israeli forces “under mysterious circumstances” at a military checkpoint near Tulkarem city before being detained and transferred to an Israeli hospital.
