Israeli Nature Authority crews stormed Monday Bab al-Rahma cemetery in occupied Jerusalem and carried out digging operations.
Firas al-Debs, the media coordinator in the Department of Islamic Endowments in occupied said that Israel’s Nature Authority members, escorted by armed officers, broke into the cemetery and removed all the surrounding trees before carrying out excavations in preparation for erecting a wall.
Local residents headed early today to the cemetery in attempt to prevent the digging operations, which led to the outbreak of violent clashes.
At least one young man was detained during the clashes.
Yesterday, Nature Authority staff members stormed the cemetery and sprayed chemical substances on trees planted in the area.
The cemetery is home to the bodies of a number of companions of the Prophet of Islam, Mohammed Peace Be Upon Him.
The Israeli occupation authorities have sought to hold sway over parts of the cemetery in an attempt to establish parks for settlers and wipe out the site’s Islamic identity.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) has reported that Israeli soldiers abducted, Monday, twenty-two Palestinians from several parts of the occupied West Bank.
The PPS said the soldiers invaded and violently searched many homes in various governorates of the West Bank, before abducting twenty-two Palestinians, including two former political prisoners.
One of the abducted Palestinians is a high-school student, identified as Karim Jamal Khader, from the Sawiya village, south of Nablus, and was taken prisoner while leaving the educational facility on Monday afternoon.

In addition, the soldiers abducted Khaled az-Zeer from Bab ar-Rahma historic graveyard, in the eastern side of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, after he and several Palestinians managed to enter the cemetery despite the closure and siege around it, as it has been subject to frequent Israeli violations.
The graveyard, 23 Dunams, includes historic Islamic graves, many dating back 1400 years, but Israel is planning to confiscate large areas of the site for its “National Gardens” project.

Media sources in Jenin said several army jeeps invaded the town and fired gas bombs and concussion grenades at locals, who protested the invasion, causing many to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation.
They added that the soldiers also shot a child, identified as Luay Jawdat Malaysha, 15, with a rubber-coated steel bullet, and abducted him.
Furthermore, the soldiers illegally confiscated two bulldozers, owned by a local resident, identified as Awad Mahmoud Abu ‘Oun.

In the Gaza Strip, Israeli soldiers, stationed in military bases and towers across the border fence, fired many live rounds at Palestinian farmers and workers, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the coastal region.
In addition, Israeli navy ships fired live rounds at fishing boats in Palestinian territorial waters, in the northern part of Gaza Strip.

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Sunday evening announced killing of three Palestinians and arresting a fourth man, in two separate attacks, at the pretext of attempting to cross the security fence south of Gaza Strip.
The IOF claimed that the Palestinians managed to cross the separation fence and throw bombs at IOF troopers who immediately shot them dead.
Local sources reported hearing shooting and seeing light bombers, coming from the Israeli side, east of Rafah and Khan Younis. No further information were reported yet.

Israel’s Ofer military court on Sunday extended the detention of a Palestinian university student from al-Khalil province for another five days pending exhaustive investigation.
A PIC news correspondent said the Ofer court extended the remand of Ibtihal Abryoush, aged 20, for five more days on account of underway investigation procedures.
Abryoush was kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces after an extremist Israeli settler called Ofer attacked her outside the Technical University of Palestine in al-Arroub last Wednesday.
