The international campaign for solidarity with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails (Tadamun) condemned the International Committee of the Red Cross’s (ICRC) decision stipulating the reduction of the number of family visitations for captives in Israeli jails from twice to once per month.
In a statement on Monday, the campaign called the resolution as an unfair order which represents a penalty to both prisoners and their families.
The statement also called for immediate cancellation of such inhumane decisions.
The campaign urged the ICRC to improve its performance towards prisoners in terms of intensifying visits, acquainting with their conditions, and working on alleviating their suffering.
It also called on the international and human rights institutions to take action and pressure the ICRC in order to cancel its decision.

The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) on Monday returned the Palestinian detainee Bassam al-Sayeh to the Eshel jail, a couple of weeks after he had been transferred to the Ramla prison clinic.
Al-Sayeh’s wife, Mona, said the Israeli prison service (IPS) transferred her husband to the Eshel lock-up 12 days after he had announced his refusal to take medicines in protest at being transferred to the Ramla prison hospital away from his brother.
On May 19 al-Sayeh decided to stop taking medicines until the IPS meets his demands. Al-Sayeh has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma and blood cancer, along with critical infections in his lung and cardiovascular disorders.
Al-Sayeh was transferred to the Ramla prison clinic a few weeks ago for urgent medical check-ups. The IOA promised to return him to Eshel jail, where his brother is serving a twenty-year-sentence.
A Palestinian doctor who had recently paid a visit to al-Sayeh said the detainee is in need of an urgent pacemaker implantation.
A report issued by an Israeli doctor pointed out the need to recommend another medicine prescription for al-Sayeh as previous medicines handed to him by the IPS proved to be harmful.
Al-Sayeh’s wife held the IPS responsible for any turn for the worse her husband’s health might take. She urged the international human rights institutions to urgently step in and save her husband before it is too late.
Prisoner al-Sayeh, 43, was arrested by the Israeli occupation forces some eight months ago on his way to attend a hearing for his wife Mona in the Salem military court, near Jenin province.
