Israeli soldiers kidnap four Palestinians in Al-Khalil and Salfit

An Israeli force of troops and intelligence officers kidnapped four Palestinians at dawn Wednesday in areas near Al-Khalil and Salfit cities.
Two Palestinian citizens were kidnapped in Beit Awwa near Al-Khalil city. The Israeli army claimed they were wanted because of their connection with the Palestinian resistance.
The two others were two brothers working as policemen for the Palestinian authority and both of them were detained after a raid on their house in Kafr Addik near Salfit city.
In a separate incident, violent clashes broke out on Wednesday morning between Palestinian young men and Israeli troops in different parts of the southern neighborhoods of Dura town in Al-Khalil city.
Eyewitnesses told a reporter for the Palestinian information center (PIC) that a large force of Israeli troops stormed the areas of Hanina, Abahir, Kharsa, Tabaqa, and Abu Hilal in Dura town and clashed with young men who threw them with stones and empty bottles.
The confrontations lasted for more than two hours during which the troops fired a barrage of rubber bullets and tear gas grenades at the angry young men.
The invading troops also established a military checkpoint at the southern entrance of Dura town.
In an earlier incident on Tuesday, two Palestinian young men sustained injuries during clashes that took place in Ni'lin town, west of Ramallah city.
An official from Ni'lin anti-wall committee told Quds Press that Israeli military vehicles chased two Palestinian cars into the village, but young men surrounded one of the invading Israeli jeeps and attacked it with stones and a Molotov cocktail.
The Israeli troops, whose jeep was intensively attacked and caught fire, called for reinforcements which arrived at the scene and responded by firing rubber bullets and tear gas grenades at the young men.
Two young men were reportedly wounded during these clashes and transferred to hospital for medical treatment.

Tension prevailing in Nafha jail

Tension is running high in a number of sections in the Israeli Nafha desert prison, the Waed society for prisoners said on Tuesday.
It said that the prison administration closed all rooms and barred prisoners from exercising their daily programs normally and even cut off power in those wards.
The society said that tension mounted after an Israeli prison officer provocatively toured the Hamas prisoners’ wards despite an earlier agreement with the administration that he should not appear in those wards for a certain period after he personally beat up a number of prisoners including Hamas leader Jamal Al-Hur.
Waed appealed to human rights organizations to urgently visit Israeli prisons and get acquainted with their administrations’ “criminal practices” against the Palestinian prisoners. It recalled in this regard that five attacks were recorded against Nafha prison wards in December.

European network demands PA to withdraw from Iraqi conference on prisoners

The European network for the defense of the Palestinian prisoners' rights called on the Palestinian authority to withdraw its delegation from the conference on Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails being held in the Iraqi capital Baghdad. The European network reasoned that the Iraqi regime is holding many Palestinian prisoners in its own jails illegally and without any guilt.
In a statement on Tuesday, the network stressed that the Palestinian authority should demand its Iraqi counterpart to disclose the fate of all Palestinian prisoners in their jails and release them immediately instead of attending such a conference.
"It is a serious mistake to participate in a conference to discuss the issue of Palestinian prisoners inside the Zionist occupation jails in Iraq, which is the same place where the Palestinians are exposed to arrest and detention just because they are Palestinians by the Iraqi authorities illegally and without any charge or offense," the network stated.
"The conference is being held simultaneously with the presence of dozens of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in Iraqi jails, where the Iraqi authorities keep their whereabouts, fate and their numbers secret as part of the policy of news blackout and secrecy which the Iraqi government pursues to hide its crimes against the Palestinian people in Iraq," it underscored.
The network slammed the PA for its silence on the Iraqi crimes against the Palestinians and said it had documented sworn testimonies from victims released from Iraqi jails proving that there are many Palestinian detainees exposed to excruciating torture by Iraqi interrogators.
The European network also criticized the Arab League for holding this conference in Iraq.
"The Arab League was supposed to hold this conference in a place that respects the right of the Palestinians to decent life first in addition to their other rights," the Oslo-based network said.
