The "Elite" begins empty stomachs battle in solidarity with striking prisoners

Ministry of Detainees' and Ex-detainees' Affairs revealed that the captive movement agreed to launch early next week the elite strike, where a group of the Palestinian elite will declare an open hunger strike in solidarity with the strikers Sharawna and al-Issawi since more than five months especially with their serious health conditions.
The elite strike will be declared protesting against the assault on al-Issawi in the court by Israeli police and guards.
The ministry said in a statement on Thursday that the strike will be launched first by the elite in Israeli jails and then they will be followed by another group after a certain period, noting that the hunger strike will be accompanied by other protest steps inside the Israeli prisons.
The ministry explained that this elite strike came within a series of steps initiated by the captive movement within the prison in solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike, where they had declared earlier a solidarity strike each Tuesday and refused the meal provided by the prison administration.
Meanwhile, Waed association for the support of Palestinian prisoners denounced the Israeli repressive practices against the Palestinian prisoners, saying the IPS measures will lead in the near future to a new phase of an open continuing confrontation.
The association stated in its statement on Thursday that the prisons are currently witnessing an unprecedented tension because of the escalation of Israeli abuse against prisoners, including the night raids and successive inspections.
Waed stated that the conditions of prisoners Ayman Sharawna and Samer al-Issawi, about half a year into their hunger strike, will have a great impact on shaping the next confrontation, revealing that the leadership of the captive movement decided to change the equation through a clear policy to respond to assaults whatever the challenges and sacrifices.
Waed denounced the position of the international humanitarian and human rights institutions who still continue their silence towards the Israeli crimes in its prisons especially the Israeli last attack on al-Issawi in the courtroom despite his illness where he went on hunger strike since several months.

Attoun calls on Egypt to intervene to save Sharawna and al-Issawi
Palestinian Legislative Council member Ahmed Attoun from Jerusalem stated that the Israeli occupation forces' attack on the hunger striker Samer al-Issawi and his family in the court yesterday, demonstrates the Israeli criminal nature.
Attoun denounced the "brutal assault" on the family of al-Issawi by the so-called Nahacon Israeli forces, where they arrested his sister Shirin al-Issawi after raiding her family's home in the town of al-Issawiya north of the city of Jerusalem.

He added that such Israeli attempts aimed to keep the prisoner Samer and his colleagues in prison without embarrassing the occupation state.
At the same context, MP Attoun contacted yesterday the Egyptian Consul in the Palestinian territories, Hammam Abu Zeid, and asked him to intervene immediately to save the lives of prisoners on hunger strike in particular Ayman Sharawna and Samer al-Issawi, who entered a critical stage due to their hunger strike since more than 6 months.

IOF assault prisoner Issawi during his trial
Palestinian Prisoners' Center for Studies confirmed that the Nahshon forces have assaulted the prisoner Samer al-Issawi twice in the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court Hall.
The prisoner, who has been on hunger strike since 142 consecutive days, appeared in Court for the hearing session of the appeal submitted for releasing him on bail or under house arrest, following the deterioration of his health condition.
The Palestinian Prisoners' center said in a statement on Tuesday that the Israeli units assaulted captive al-Issawi because he had greeted his family members, who came to check on him after hearing about the serious deterioration of his health.
It added that the occupation units have attacked al-Issawi once more when the journalists tried to reach him to ask him about his health.
The Center held the occupation and its units fully responsible for the deterioration in the health of prisoner Issawi, as they have been neglecting his demands for his release.
"The guards and Israeli forces have also assaulted Issawi when he tried to address the media. He felt on ground and was dragged from his hands and feet to the detention room in the court," Added Boulos.
Head of the prisoners society, Qadura Fares, called on the world to immediately intervene to stop the suffering of the prisoners especially the hunger strikers Samer al-Issawi and Ayman al-Sharawneh.
It's worth mentioning that today, the Israeli forces raided al-Issawya village north of Jerusalem, broke into the house of prisoner al-Issawi and arrested his sister, Shireen.
In an interview with the Jerusalem Media Center the moment of her arrest, Shireen said, "They detained me with no charges except spreading the plight of my brother. I will keep defending him until he returns to Jerusalem and you too should stand by him before it's too late."
