Occupation sends negotiators to captive Issawi's room

Palestinian human rights sources said that the Israeli authorities have continued attempts to persuade the Jerusalemite hunger striking prisoner Samer Issawi to stop his hunger strike and accept a proposal to deport him from Jerusalem in exchange for his release.
Jawad Boulos, director of the Legal Unit in the Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS), said in a statement on Tuesday that the occupation authorities are trying to convince Issawi to accept proposals transmitted by officers and negotiation experts, who keep flocking to his room in Kaplan hospital.
The lawyer reported that the doctors have warned of the seriousness of Samer's health condition "especially after his heart muscle has become too weak."
For his part, the Jerusalemite deported MP Mohammed Abu Teir sent a letter to the prisoner Issawi, on the anniversary of the Prisoner's Day, in which he hailed his steadfastness facing the violations of "the oppressive jailer".
Sheikh Abu Teir told PIC that the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation jails can be freed only by the language of force and the exchange deals.
He called on all Palestinian factions and institutions to put the issue of the prisoners on the top of their priorities and to move for liberating them.
Mohammed Abu Tair is an MP for the Change and Reform Bloc who has been deported from Jerusalem. He had also been detained by the occupation forces several times and served in the Israeli jails more than 30 years.

Gaza government asks Cairo to compel Israel respect terms of exchange deal

The Minister of Prisoners in Gaza, Dr. Attallah Abu Subbah, called on Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and his General Intelligence Service to pressure Israel to abide by agreements it signed with the resistance and prisoners.
Abu Subbah said on Sunday, during a press conference held on the occasion of the launch of the events of Palestinian Prisoners' Day, "We call on our brothers in Egypt, President Mohamed Morsi and the great Egyptian army to act to save the captives in the Zionist enemy's jails."
He stressed that the occupation prison administration has been deliberately escalating its repressive procedures against the Palestinian prisoners and denying them their most basic rights.
The Minister pointed out that the deportation of prisoner Samer al-Issawi, who has been on hunger strike for 268 days, to a European country is completely rejected.
Night march in solidarity with sick prisoners in Jenin
Crowds of citizens have participated in a night march in Jenin in solidarity with the hunger striker Samer al-Issawi, and the two prisoners from Jenin Sami al-Aridi and Mohammed Mardawi, who suffer from poor health conditions, and in solidarity with all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
The participants held during the march Issawi's pictures and sick and old prisoners' photos in addition to pictures of the martyrs Maysara Abu Hamdiya and Arafat Jaradat, raising Palestinian flags and banners.
The protesters chanted slogans condemning the Israeli policies towards those prisoners and what they charged as the Israeli execution of the Palestinian prisoners.
They called for more support to the prisoners' issue, urging the human rights institutions to intervene to save their lives.
Israel’s Arrest of Issawi is a War Crime, says Foreign Minister
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Riyad al-Malki, in a statement Sunday, considered the Israeli government’s continued arrest of striking prisoner Samer al-Issawi without charge or trial and its refusal to release him immediately a war crime in accordance with the international law. Samer Issawi has been striking for about six months now and might lose his life at any moment.
Al-Malki said that the Israeli intransigence in dealing with Issawi’s case proves their disregard for the lives of the Palestinian people and the lives of prisoners under administrative detention in Israeli jails.
The Israeli acceptance to release Issawi only if he agrees to be deported to Gaza or anywhere outside his home in Jerusalem affirms that there is no justification for his arrest in the first place, said al-Malki.
He added that deporting Issawi out of Jerusalem aims to empty Jerusalem of its residents through its deporting policy, which is considered a violation of international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
Al-Malki stressed that Issawi’s file will be one of the first files to be submitted to the International Criminal Court to prosecute the responsible Israeli officials in the event the decision was made to go to that court.
He called on all the democratic forces in Israel to launch a campaign for the release of Issawi, stressing that he expects all human rights organizations and democratic governments to promptly pressure the Israel to release Issawi before it is too late.

Samer Barq interrogated by U.S. officers from FBI in Israeli jails

Palestinian human rights sources said that the hunger striking prisoner Samer Barq, from Jayous village near the city of Qalqilya northern West Bank, is being interrogated by U.S. officers from the FBI.
Helmi Barq, the captive's father, reported that his son, who has been on hunger strike for 50 days, is being investigated by investigators from the FBI in the Israeli jails, and considered that this "method complicates his son's secret file”.
Samer's father told Palestine Prisoners Center for Studies that the occupation has been torturing his son through depriving him of visits and isolating him, despite his deteriorating health condition, in an attempt to force him to end his strike.
Kaher Abu Kamal, media spokesman for the human rights center, said in a press statement on Sunday that the captive Samer Barq is determined to continue his hunger strike until his release from Israeli jails.
Palestinian human rights sources reported that health conditions of the two Palestinian prisoners Hamza Kalouti and Mohammed Sayara have seriously deteriorated during the recent period as a result of the policy of deliberate medical neglect in Israeli jails.
International Solidarity Foundation for Human Rights revealed in a statement on Sunday that the Jerusalemite prisoner Hamza Kalouti suffers from serious problems in the bones and joints, resulting in great difficulty in movement, and that the Gilboa prison doctors have prescribed him medicines that damaged his liver and kidneys.
Kalouti has been detained since 2001 and is serving a life sentence.
