The Palestinian Prisoners Association’s lawyer declared Tuesday that Ahmed Khatib, detained in the Israeli Ashkelan prison, has been on hunger strike for nine days now. The lawyer also paid a visit to prisoner Ramzi Abrash, who is sentenced to life imprisonment and suffers from several heart problems, which led to recurrent blackouts in addition to a serious peptic ulcer.

Special Israeli forces raided a prison cell in the fourth section of Raymond prison Monday and damaged all of the detainee’s properties while searching for mobile phones.
Prisoners Center for Studies said in a statement on Tuesday that the Israeli prison administration had repeatedly launched surprise search campaigns recently that exacerbated the agony of the prisoners.
The statement documented daily morning and night raids on more than one ward in various prisons.
The Center urged human rights activists and organizations to raise alarm bells against the violations against Palestinian prisoners, calling for concerted efforts to boost the prisoners’ steadfastness vis-à-vis such practices.

Israeli courts turned down requests to release the Palestinian captive Motassem Redad who is facing life-threatening health problems in prison. A report by Ahrar Center for Prisoner Studies and Human Rights said on Monday: “The Israeli decision was very surprising and unconvincing. The three long-awaited release sessions were fruitless and Israel gave no heed to Redad’s critical health condition.”
In a statement to Ahrar Center, Redad’s brother said that the Israeli judiciary falsified the medical report that authenticates the captive’s deteriorating health condition. “The newly-forged report claims no legitimate reasons for the release of Redad,” he added.
Redad’s family asked for a solidarity campaign as an urgent step to shed light on Redad’s cause and raise alarm bells about the actual crisis, both nationally and internationally.
Redad is suffering from a deadly colorectal cancer and incessant bleeding, along with severe stomachaches and heart arrhythmia, to which the Israeli medical staff is turning blind eyes and deaf ears, both in prison and in hospital where Redad is chained hand and foot.

MP Mohammed Abu Tier
Israeli occupation authorities still detain 11 Palestinian MPs and one minister, most are administrative detainees, AHRAR Centre for Prisoners Studies and Human Rights said. The centre pointed out that Israeli forces mean to extend the detention of MPs when their service is about to end. They suffer from various diseases and very bad conditions in prison.
Head of the centre Foad al-Khafash said that all the detained MPs are ex-prisoners who served long terms in prison. Israeli forces detained them after short period of release.
Al-Khafash confirmed that the detention of MPs is a blow to their efforts and status. It is not a precedent for the occupation who arrested more than once the head of Palestinian Legislative Council, Dr. Aziz Dweik.
MPs detained are:
Ahmed Attoun,
Mohammed Abu Teir,
Yasser Mansour,
Mahmoud Ramahi,
Abdel Jaber Fuqaha,
Ahmad Saadat,
Marwan Barghouti,
Nizar Ramadan,
Mohammed Maher Badr,
Mohammed Jamal Natshe,
Hatem Kufaisheh, and
Minister Issa Al-Jabari.

Ashraf Sabbah
Palestinian sick prisoners’ conditions continue to deteriorate due to medical neglect, reported Palestinian lawyers on March 30, Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity network reported. Ashraf Sabbah, 33, from Gaza, has been imprisoned since 2003, when he was struck by multiple bullets fired by occupation forces.
He is serving a 12-year sentence. During the time of his imprisonment his health and mobility have worsened considerably. He is unable to use his left foot due to injuries to the bone, blood flow and tendons following his shooting. Doctors have told him that his left leg may need to be amputated because he has contracted MRSA, an antibiotic-resistant staph infection.
His right foot is also infected and has ongoing injuries and pain due to improper healing of fractures. He cannot fully use his left hand due to nerve damage from shrapnel. On several occasions he has lost consciousness and has severe physical pain, reported his lawyer Moataz Shuqeirat.
Shuqeirat also reported that Samir Lahham, 34, from Gaza, has a tumor in his left foot that is causing him severe pain. He must use a wheelchair to move and has received no diagnosis or medical treatment for the tumor other than painkillers, he reported.
Mahmoud Ghalma of Ramallah, serving a four and a half year sentence, had three strokes over the past two months and has a hole in his heart, reported Rami al-Alami. He has received limited medical treatment in Ramon prison and is receiving sedatives. Al-Alami said that his poor health is the result of medical negligence by prison doctors.
