IPS of Negev Prison deprived the prisoners from their family visits for two months and transferred some of them to other prisons.
In another context, Boulos quoted from the detainees " what we had experienced during these days was a catastrophe as we suffered from severe cold, continuous electricity outage and lack of heating methods”.

Palestinian human rights sources said that prisoner Mutassim Raddad was transferred on Monday from Hadarim jail to Meir hospital in very serious health condition. The lawyer of the prisoner said he embarked on making intensive contacts to visit Raddad and check on his health condition, noting that the detainee already suffers from bowel cancer that cause him to bleed constantly.
He noted that the health condition of prisoner Raddad deteriorated very notably because the Israeli jailers neglect his treatment and give him chemotherapy irregularly.
Raddad is a 32-year-old young man from Saida village in Tulkarem and he has been serving a 20-year prison term since his detention on January 12, 2006.
In another context, Ahrar center for prisoner studies and human rights urged the Palestinian legislative council (PLC) to internationalize the suffering of administrative detainees in Israeli jails.
Director of the center Fouad Al-Khafsh stated that the PLC should initiate intensive contacts with the world's parliaments to explain and rally support for the cause of the administrative detainees, who are exposed by Israeli jailers to daily punitive measures.
Khafsh affirmed that there are 12 Palestinian lawmakers administratively detained in Israeli jails with no charges leveled against them, stressing that raising the issue of these lawmakers at the international level would contribute to promoting the justice of their cause.

In its report on the condition of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, the Palestinian Center for Prisoners’ Studies confirmed that prisoners have faced difficult situation due to the snow storm that hit the area. The center explained that the detention conditions in Israeli jails in southern Palestinian territories occupied in 1948 were the worst, in addition to the detention and interrogation centers particularly Hawara and Etzion centers.
Several prisoners were affected due to the extreme cold that doubled their suffering in light of lack of heating and blankets. Israeli prison administration has stormed the rooms of administrative detainees who have been waging protest steps to put an end to Israeli administrative detention policy.
In Nafha prison, Israeli prison administration continued its punitive measures against the prisoners for their solidarity steps with sick prisoners, as it has refused to allow the entry of blankets and winter clothing.
Palestinian prisoners in Raymond prison were transferred to prison hospital due to the freezing temperatures and lack of heating, as Israeli authorities refused to allow winter clothing, blankets and shoes for those prisoners.
Israeli administration in Ofer prison continued to refuse the entry of blankets despite the extreme cold weather after the rainwater leaked into prisoners’ rooms.
In Hawara and Etzion detention centers, prisoners suffer from Israeli deliberate negligence to their basic human needs and demands as their rooms were flooded and their belongings were damaged after the Israeli administration obliged them to leave the windows open.
The human rights center held the Israeli occupation full responsibility for the prisoners' lives, calling on all human rights institutions to check on the prisoners’ situation in light of these bad conditions and to provide them with the basic supplies to protect them from extreme cold particularly the patient prisoners and detained children.

Families of Palestinian prisoners urged Palestinian resistance movements to capture Israeli soldiers to secure the release of their sons. "Palestinian detainees could only be freed via active resistance to the Israeli occupation," Khalda Abu Saleh, mother of prisoner Mohamed Abu Salah told Anadolu Agency.
"What's been taken by force can only be recovered by force," Aya al-Zaanein, mother of prisoner Hossam al-Zaanein, told Anadolu Agency.
Palestinian mothers of prisoners hold a weekly Monday sit-in in front of the Gaza office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to demand the release of their loved ones.
In 2006, three resistance movements including Hamas announced their responsibility for capturing Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
On October 17, 2011, Shalit was freed in a historic prisoner swap deal that secured the release of 1,027 Palestinian prisoners.
Some 4,700 Palestinians – most of them from the occupied West Bank – are currently held in Israeli detention facilities.
Getting Palestinians freed through negotiations, or so-called goodwill gesture, with Israel is seen as an ineffective solution to the prisoners cause.
As part of this 'goodwill' gesture practice towards the Palestinian negotiating team, headed by Saeb Erakat, the Israeli cabinet a few month ago voted to release 104 “pre-Oslo” prisoners in four phases.
In the first and second phase, which took place on August 13 and October 29 respectively, saw the release of some 50 pre-Oslo prisoners.
Some 104 Palestinian prisoners are classified as 'veteran prisoners' or 'pre-Oslo prisoners', a naming given to those already spent 20 years in Israeli prisons or more.

Palestinian lawmaker Mustafa Barghouthi, head of the national initiative, held Israel and its jailers fully responsible for the tragic incarceration conditions of the Palestinian detainees who suffer greatly as a result of the cold spell, which hit Palestine. In press remarks on Monday, Barghouthi said that the conditions of the Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails are extremely difficult because of the heavy cold winter and the absence of enough blankets, protective clothing and heating appliances.
He added that this miserable situation in jails caused many prisoners to suffer cold-related diseases and increased the suffering of others with previous medical conditions.
The lawmaker appealed to human rights groups, especially the Red Cross, to urgently move and pressure the Israeli prison authority to provide the prisoners in its jails with enough protective means and appropriate medical care to help them survive the harsh winter.
"The shortage of blankets and winter clothing, the absence of heating means and depriving the prisoners of hot water reflect the criminality of the occupation forces and their disregard for the international humanitarian law," he underlined.

Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails complained of Israeli brutal practices and violent search operations despite the winter storm that has doubled their suffering due to the shortage of blankets, winter clothing and heaters. The prisoner Ahmad Freihat, detained in Negev prison, said that rainwater has leaked into their cells and damaged their belongings. "The prison administration deliberately takes no action during such emergency situations to increase our suffering," he charged.
He pointed out that Israeli prison authorities ignored the prisoners' demands to allow the entry of winter clothing and covers, saying that Israeli jailers enjoy warmth while absolutely ignoring their need to similar warmness.
For his part, the liberated prisoner Fady Salama, who was recently released from Israeli jails, said that Palestinian prisoners suffer extreme bad detention conditions especially due to the low temperatures, pointing to the lack of winter clothes and heating.
Following his visit to Ashkalon prison, the lawyer Karim Ajwa confirmed the prisoners' miserable detention conditions where their cells' windows are only covered with plastic.
Meanwhile, Israeli prison administration in Ofer prison refused to allow the entry of 1,500 winter blankets as part of the Israeli punitive measures against Palestinian prisoners in Ofer jail.
The Palestinian prisoners in Megiddo prison said that they suffer from a severe shortage of blankets and winter clothing, and they lack effective heating, leave alone being deprived from hot water.
Sources in Israeli jails charged that Israeli authorities had deliberately escalated night raids into their rooms, conducting search operations in spite of the cold weather, where they were forced to stand outside in freezing conditions for several hours at a time, often at night.
