Palestinian prisoner Nahar al-Saadi has entered his 25th day of hunger strike in protest at his solitary confinement.
A brother of the prisoner told the Palestinian information center (PIC) on Sunday that the lawyer said that Nahar is determined to continue his hunger strike until the Israeli jailers end his isolation and allow his family, especially his mother, to visit him in prison.
In a related context, the Palestinian Authority (PA) commission for detainees and ex-detainees said 70 prisoners in Israeli jails went on open-ended hunger strike six days ago in protest at Israel's solitary confinement policy and in solidarity with isolated detainee Nahar al-Saadi.
The PA commission stated on Saturday that the administrations of Israeli prisons threatened the hunger striking prisoners to transfer them to sections of criminal prisoners in different jails as a punitive measure if they persisted in their hunger strike.
The commission said it had received a letter from the prisoners warning that if their jailers carried out their threats, they would expand and escalate their hunger strike.
It noted the Israeli jailers already started to take a number of punitive measures against the hunger strikers, including depriving them of family visits and transferring some of them to other prisons.
The commission stressed that Israel's isolation of more than 30 prisoners is a cruel, arbitrary and illegal punishment, and called for serious and effective international action to end all repressive measures against them.

The Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) have decided to isolate a number of Palestinian prisoners for recently declaring a hunger strike, human rights sources revealed Saturday.
In a statement issued today, Palestine Center for Prisoners’ Studies said that the Israeli authorities have transferred a large number of prisoners into solitary confinement after waging a hunger strike in solidarity with Nahar al-Saadi who stopped eating for 23 consecutive days.
Solitary confinement is the toughest punishment measure imposed by Israeli prison administrations in which Palestinian inmates are denied contact with any other prisoners and detainees for unidentified and prolonged period of time, the center pointed out.
Palestinian isolated detainees are held in solitary confinement amid very difficult and unbearable detention conditions and are deprived of their basic human rights. They are subjected to inhuman treatment and abuses in grave-like prison cells, according to the statement.
The center called on international and local human rights groups to support the hunger strikers’ demands to end the solitary confinement policy.
Meanwhile, the IOA renewed the administrative detention of the leader in Jihad movement Sheikh Tarek Qadan for the second time in a row.
Family sources told a PIC reporter that Sheikh Qadan’s administrative detention was renewed Saturday for the second time after being detained during Israeli large-scale arrest campaign in mid-June throughout the West Bank.
Sheikh Qadan, a father of four children, suffers from many serious health problems as he has previously spent several years behind Israeli bars without trial or charge, the sources added.
He waged a 60-day hunger strike protesting against his illegal administrative detention two years ago.
Since 1989, Qadan was nabbed by Israeli forces for 14 times. His sister Muna Qadan is also held in Israeli prisons.
Around 7,000 Palestinians are currently being held in Israeli prisons, more than 2,000 of whom were arrested by the Israeli occupation forces this summer.
