Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested on Wednesday 39 Palestinian in different governorates of the West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem after storming many houses and launching large-scale search campaigns.
Palestinian Prisoner Society said that the IOF rounded up 16 Palestinians aged 15-20 from al-Khalil, 13 Jerusalemites in Hazmah town and two others in Silwan town in Occupied Jerusalem in addition to a Palestinian in Askar refugee camp to the east of Nablus city.
Israeli forces also arrested two Palestinians in Anabta and Shoufeh towns in Tulkarem, three in Deir Ammar village near Ramallah, and three minors, 11-13 years, in Qalqilya; they were released later on.

The number of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons has risen to seven thousand male and female prisoners, as the number of those arrested has reached more than 2400 since the beginning of last October.
Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies (PCPS) affirmed that as a result of the large-scale and ongoing detention campaigns in all areas of the Palestinian territories, the Israeli occupation was forced to open new sections of prisons and new prisons to accommodate the large numbers of Palestinians who have been arrested.
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have opened two new tent sections in the Negev prison; which are number 9 and 10 sections, and have transferred to them the detainees who were held in interrogation centers. Each of the new sections can house 120 prisoners. The IOF also opened Givon prison for detained minors.
The Israeli occupation is going to open a new department for female prisoners in the Damon prison, so as to transfer a number of detained and sentenced female prisoners to it, because Hishorn prison has no capacity to accommodate the new Palestinian women prisoners arrested recently.
According to the center, over 420 of the prisoners are minors, some of whom were wounded in IOF shooting during their arrest and still suffer from their injuries. Also among them are children under fourteen years old.
The Israeli occupation imposed, for the first time in years, administrative detention on 12 minors, 3 of which are from Jerusalem.
The conditions of female prisoners
The number of female prisoners has also risen recently to 38 captives; among which: five wounded, six minors, three elderly women aging over 55 years old. Two of the female captives are held in administrative detention, without charge or trial, and two are still in Israeli hospitals as a result of being shot by the IOF. The IOF has recently transferred three female minors from Ashkelon to Neve Trieste prison and then to Hasharon prison.
Palestinian prisoners in all of the Israeli jails are suffering from endless violations that show clearly the Israeli occupation's denial of international conventions related to prisoners. They are currently complaining from the shortage of winter clothing, blankets, and heating with the advent of freezing winter.
Prisoners are also suffering from repeated search of their rooms unexpectedly and at late times, the search is usually accompanied with beating, assaults, verbal abuse, provocation, tampering with the contents of their rooms, and the confiscation of their electrical appliances and personal items. The prisoners particularly suffer from those searches in winter where the prison administrations force the prisoners to stay in the cold for hours.
The Israeli prison service (IPS) still pursues the slow death policy against the Palestinian prisoners as evident in its deliberate medical neglect of the sick prisoners in absolute disregard to their lives.
The PCPS called on the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities, and to pressure the Israeli occupation authority to stop the ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people.
In the same context, the PCPS confirmed that Palestinian female prisoners in Hasharon prison refused the idea of opening a new section for them in the Damon prison that would entail transferring a number of them under the pretext of congestion.
Female prisoners clarified their position in a letter to the PCPS, in which they expressed their absolute refusal of opening this section under the pretext of congestion in the Hasharon prison.
They expressed concern that the IPS might open that section against their will and transfer the female prisoners to it by force, which would heighten tensions in the prison, especially with the severe pressure they are subjected to in the recent weeks.

The Palestinian child prisoners held in Givon prison suffer very difficult detention conditions, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said on Wednesday.
The PPS lawyer Jawad Boulos managed to meet a number of the Palestinian minors held in Givon prison.
He quoted the minors as saying that they suffer from ill-treatment at the hands of Israeli jailers who provide them with unhealthy and unclean food.
All the detained minors, the Palestinian activist continued, were subjected to several forms of torture including severe beating, insults, strip search, and rape threats.
There are currently 64 child detainees held in Givon prison that was opened last October following a sudden rise in their number as a result of the recent Israeli mass arrest campaign in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
As a whole, nearly 400 Palestinian children are detained in Israeli detention centers and prisons.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Wednesday rolled into the northern West Bank province of Nablus and ravaged the family home of a slain Palestinian girl, shortly before they kidnapped a youngster from the city.
Family of the slain Palestinian girl Maram Hasouna said an Israeli army force broke into their home in Nablus’ western neighborhood of Rafidia at the crack of dawn and wreaked havoc on the building.
The occupation troops subjected Maram’s father and brothers to exhaustive interrogation.
Observers said the assault was carried out with no regard, whatsoever, for the critical psychological state endured by Maram’s family at a time when the Israeli occupation authorities have been withholding their daughter’s body and preventing the family from bidding her last farewell.
The Israeli soldiers tore down Maram’s pictures which were posted on the house walls.
Clashes flared up across the neighborhood, where the IOF attacked the young protesters with rubber bullet rounds and tear gas canisters.
The assault culminated in the abduction of the Palestinian youth Hazem al-Nadi from his own family home in the Askar refugee camp, in eastern Nablus province.

Raed Mohammed Mamoun al-Khatib 16
The army claims he “attempted to stab a settler"; Israeli soldiers shot and killed, on Tuesday morning, a Palestinian teen, sixteen years of age, near the Gush Etzion settlement block, built on Palestinian lands, south of Bethlehem.

At least 22 Palestinian citizens have been detained by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) after they were injured, the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners’ Committee reported Sunday.
The Committee said 22 Palestinians were arrested since the outburst of the ongoing Jerusalem Intifada, on early October, after they were shot and injured by the IOF.
A number of those injured detainees are still held in Israeli hospitals in very critical conditions.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Prisoners Center for Studies said it kept record of the arrest of more than 27 of the detainees’ first-degree female relatives, seven among whom are still held in Israeli lock-ups.
A number of the detained relatives are elderly patients who have been diagnosed with several illnesses.
The group added that the detainees’ mothers, spouses, and girls have been permanent targets of Israeli arbitrary detentions and interrogation summonses.
The center voiced concern over the striking surge in the abduction and torture of the prisoners’ families during prison-visits.
