Family of the Palestinian hunger-striker Muhammad al-Qeiq said the latter has no attorney to defend his case after 90 days of ongoing hunger strike.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) backtracked on defending al-Qeiq’s case in response to the reluctance maintained by the Israeli intelligence as regards the appeals filed by PPS lawyers.
Head of the prisoners’ and ex-prisoners’ committee, Issa Qaraqe, said, as his spoke to al-Qeiq’s family by phone, that the reluctance maintained by the Israeli prosecution is a sign of a preplanned attempt to kill al-Qeiq.
The PPS had informed the Israeli occupation authorities of its intent to abandon the case if a response to the appeals they filed earlier is not issued by Sunday evening.
The PPS said the Israeli occupation, and nobody else, is responsible for al-Qeiq’s life, adding that the family has been updated on the move. Lawyer, Hanan Khatib, from the prisoners’ committee, also raised alarm bells over the critical health condition of prisoner al-Qeiq after three months of ongoing hunger strike.
She said al-Qeiq has endured severe heart attacks, excruciating pains, weight loss, spasms in his limbs, loss of his hearing ability, and cardiovascular disorders, among other illnesses.
Al-Qeiq was arrested from his own home in Ramallah on November 21, 2015 and has been subjected to harsh torture during the investigation procedure then held in administrative detention without trial or charge, which made him declare an open-ended hunger strike a few days later.

The girl then admitted that she had planned to try to stab an Israeli soldier, al-Samri added.
Palestinian security sources identified the girl to Ma’an as Sajeda Nizam Mahmoud from the village of Qusra south of Nablus.
Over 170 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers since a wave of unrest spread across the occupied Palestinian territory in October.
The unrest has been marked by a surge of small-scale attacks carried out by Palestinian individuals -- predominantly on Israeli military targets -- which have left over 25 Israelis dead, with the majority of suspected Palestinian attackers shot dead on site.

The family of the Palestinian detainee Muhammad al-Muhr called for exerting pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to release their son, after 48 days of ongoing hunger strike in an Israeli jail.
Al-Muhr’s sister, Kawthar, said her 23-year-old brother has been through a very critical psycho-physical state due to his ongoing hunger strike.
She further spoke out against the mistreatment and torture he has been subjected to during and after the investigation. She said the Israeli occupation forces arrested her brother on November 3, 2015 at the Jalama checkpoint on allegations of attempting to stab an occupation soldier.
“My brother did not carry out the anti-occupation attack and backtracked from the scene,” she said. “He was arrested some 200 meters away from the checkpoint while holding a fruit knife.”
“The Israeli occupation court convicted him of attempting to stab a soldier,” the sister added. Prisoner al-Muhr started his open-ended hunger strike in early January in the Israeli Megiddo lock-up.

Emad Eshtaiwi, member of the national committee for the support of Palestinian prisoners, called for releasing the Palestinian sick captive Firas Hashash, 27, from Balata refugee camp near Nablus due to the seriousness of his health condition.
Eshtaiwi told Quds Press that prisoner Hashash suffers from ulcers for which he underwent two surgeries in Ramleh Prison clinic last month.
His health condition is getting worse after sharp drop of his blood count. He pointed out that detainee Hashash who is sentenced to seven months in Megiddo Israeli jail was shot by Israeli forces with a bullet in the head during the Second Intifada.
His condition has recently deteriorated in jail due to Israeli deliberate policy of medical negligence.
The family of prisoner Hashash appealed to all of the institutions concerned with the issue of Palestinian prisoners to follow up on his health condition and work on his release for proper treatment.
