An Israeli court accused Israeli intelligence services of arresting Palestinians over false accusations and press them to give false confessions.
Israeli occupation forces abducted 6,500 Palestinians in 2017, including 1,600 children, 170 women and 185 patients, Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) said on Monday.
In a report, the PPC said that the Israeli occupation abducted 4,382 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, including 1,400 from Al-Khalil alone.
The report noted that the Israeli occupation forces abducted 2,000 Palestinian from the occupied Jerusalem and 118 from the Gaza Strip.
Among the Palestinian abducted, the PPC said, there were 13 Palestinian parliamentarians and 14 academics, including professors with international reputations.
In addition, the PPC said that the Israeli occupation authorities issued 1,086 administrative detention orders –form of illegal detention where the detainee is not entitled to know the reason for his imprisonment.
The PPC also said that 1,500 among them were former prisoners, tens of them spent decades inside the Israeli prisons.
Meanwhile, an Israeli court accused last month the Israeli security services of arresting Palestinians over false accusations and press them to give false confessions.

The Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) issued administration detention orders against 41 Palestinians, including a member of the Palestinian parliament, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said on Tuesday.
PPS pointed out that 16 of the administrative detention orders were issued against Palestinians who were detained for the first time or were re-detained after being released from prison upon completing their former sentence.
The Israeli authorities extended the detention period of Khalida Jarrar, a parliament member, by six months after serving her first six months in administrative detention, the sources added.
There are currently 6500 Palestinian prisoners in 22 Israeli jails and detention centers, including 56 women, 350 minors, 13 MPs, and 500 administrative detainees.
International rights organizations have strongly denounced Israel’s excessive use of administrative detention to silence Palestinian activists, who are usually held without charge or trial for long periods of time.

An Israeli court indicted, on Sunday, 21-year-old Palestinian girl Nour Tamimi, who was seen slapping a heavily armed Israeli soldier, along with her cousin, Ahed Tamimi, two weeks ago.
The court charged Tamimi with aggravated assault of an Israeli soldier and obstructing a soldier from carrying out his duty.
A short video showed the young Tamimi girls slapping an Israeli soldier in Nabi Saleh, after shooting their cousin in the head.
Both girls were abducted by Israeli forces from their houses at night, according to Days of Palestine, just hours after slapping the Israeli soldier.
A prominent Israeli journalist called for raping Ahed Tamimi, while Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman called for her to spend all of her life in prison.
Born in Moldova, Avigdor Lieberman is one of the only foreign ministers in the world who does not live in territory officially recognized as his own country. Originally under suspicion over charges of money-laundering and bribery, Lieberman was formally indicted in December of 2012, on lesser charges of fraud and breach of trust.
His party was recently the focus of a corruption probe within the Israeli political spectrum. More recently, Lieberman’s life was threatened with an assassination attempt.

Pro-Palestine activists intend on Tuesday to launch a multilingual social media campaign to demand the release of Palestinian female prisoner Israa Ja’abis, who suffers from serious burns.
The campaign is aimed to shed light on the suffering of prisoner Ja’abis and pressure for her release in order for her to receive proper medical treatment outside.
“Freeisraa” and “helpisraa” are two of the hashtags used to express solidarity with Ja’abis.
Palestinian prisoner Israa Jaabis, 32, was sentenced to 11 years in prison last November 2017 by an Israeli court in Occupied Jerusalem.
Jaabis, who is a resident of Jabal Mukabber in east Jerusalem, was severely injured on October 10, 2015 after a fire accidently broke out in her car. She was 500 meters away from an Israeli military checkpoint when a gas cylinder used in cooking burst into flames in the back seat of her car.
Jaabis’ airbag went off in the front seat of the car. The Israeli authorities exploited the incident and accused her of attempting to detonate a car bomb, especially since an Israeli police officer was injured when the car fire broke out.
However, Jaabis was severely burned, especially on her face and hands. Eight of her fingers were amputated when she was hospitalized. She and her family repeatedly stated that she was carrying the gas cylinder to a new home she just moved in.
In order to preserve her Jerusalem residency, she had recently rented a new apartment and had been moving furniture in her car for days. Palestinian Jerusalemites, especially those with family members in the West Bank, are systematically targeted for the revocation of their Jerusalem IDs by the Israeli occupation.
Jaabis was transferred to Hasharon prison before the completion of her treatment. Due to her severe injuries and lack of support inside the prison, she must rely on her fellow women prisoners to assist her with basic tasks. She is not receiving supplemental treatment despite her massive burns and severe injuries.
The Israeli prison service are deliberately leaving her to live with unbearable pain while spending her 11-year-sentence in prison.

Local sources told the PIC reporter that the IOF at dawn closed the northern entrance to Madama town, south of Nablus, for the second time in 24 hours, and blocked movement in both directions without giving reasons.
In another context, a group of Israeli settlers late at night on Monday set up a number of caravans and a tent in Ras al-Ein area which is located near Elon Moreh settlement and covers an area of 25 dunums of Deir al-Hatab village east of Nablus.
Eyewitnesses reported that large forces of the Israeli army carried out military maneuvers during the night hours using live ammunition and sound and light bombs near Arraba town south of Jenin. A state of fair and panic prevailed among the Palestinian citizens.
The IOF also raided Kafr Qaddum town, east of Qalqilya, according to the popular resistance coordinator in the town, Murad Shtewi, who said that three Israeli patrols stormed the town and provocatively fired sound bombs before leaving the place. No arrests were reported.

Israeli occupation prosecution on Monday presented indictments at Ofer Israeli court against the 17-year-old Palestinian detained girl, Ahd al-Tamimi, along with her mother, Nariman, and cousin, Nour.
Israeli occupation forces accused Ahd with attacking an Israeli officer and solider on December 15 in addition to other 5 alleged attacks against Israeli occupation security forces with stones and causing riot.
The indictment against her mother and cousin claimed that they took part in clashes against Israeli occupation forces and practiced incitement on Facebook.
Israeli military prosecution asked the court to extend the detention of the three Palestinians for the third time for the continuation of legal measures.

“A poem stands accused,
my poem morphs into a crime.
In the land of freedom,
the artist’s fate is prison.”
So read the words of a poem written by the young poet Dareen Tatour, who was put in prison under charges of ‘incitement’ in 2015 for a poem that she wrote that was posted on Youtube. She has now been in prison for more than two years, and was supposed to have a court hearing on December 27th, but it was postponed until January.
Dareen’s case has drawn attention from poets and authors worldwide, for the implication it has on free speech.
Several petitions submitted to the Israeli government have called for Dareen’s release, but the government continues to delay her trial on ‘incitement’ charges.
“I’ve never seen the prosecution as obstinate as it has been in Dareen’s case,” attorney Abed Fahoum told Electronic Intifada earlier this year. “I believe that they aim to use her to intimidate and silence all Palestinians.”
In April 2016, Dareen’s court hearing was attended by a local blogger, who wrote, “The prosecution started to rest her case by bringing the policemen that translated the ‘Qawem’ poem to Hebrew. The scene was completely surrealistic. Poems, by their very nature, are contradictory to the concept of “proven beyond reasonable doubt” that stands at the heart of the criminal law. The (policeman) witness was struggling with the ambiguities of the poem’s words, supplying his intuitive interpretation to the phrases.
We were torn between the urge to laugh loudly and bewilderment at the knowledge that the freedom of our dear Dareen depends on this nonsense….He testified breezily that his competence was based on studying literature at high school and his love for the Arab language. They are confident they can rob Dareen of her freedom according to an interpretation of her poem without even caring to bring a proper translator!”
This is the poem that has led to Dareen’s continued, ongoing imprisonment for more than two years, translated y poet Tariq al Haydar:
Resist, My People, Resist Them
Resist, my people, resist them.
In Jerusalem, I dressed my wounds and breathed my sorrows
And carried the soul in my palm
For an Arab Palestine.
I will not succumb to the “peaceful solution,”
Never lower my flags
Until I evict them from my land.
I cast them aside for a coming time.
Resist, my people, resist them.
Resist the settler’s robbery
And follow the caravan of martyrs.
Shred the disgraceful constitution
Which imposed degradation and humiliation
And deterred us from restoring justice.
They burned blameless children;
As for Hadil, they sniped her in public,
Killed her in broad daylight.
Resist, my people, resist them.
Resist the colonialist’s onslaught.
Pay no mind to his agents among us
Who chain us with the peaceful illusion.
Do not fear doubtful tongues;
The truth in your heart is stronger,
As long as you resist in a land
That has lived through raids and victory.
So Ali called from his grave:
Resist, my rebellious people.
Write me as prose on the agarwood;
My remains have you as a response.
Resist, my people, resist them.

The IOF further threatened the demolition of the family home of prisoner Yousef Abu Zina in Jenin’s southwestern town of Qabatiya on allegations that Yousef had carried out an anti-occupation stabbing in Kafr Kasem a few months earlier.
The campaign culminated in the abduction of Palestinian youngster Ibrahim al-Beitouti from Jerusalem’s eastern town of al-Issawiya.

Israel’s intelligence agency Shin Bet said it has identified and indicted two Palestinian brothers who carried out an anti-occupation stabbing attack in Arad last month.
According to Israel’s Channel 2, a scene caught on video by security cameras installed in streets shows the attackers as boarding a car and speeding toward an island, before they were tracked down, identified, and detained.
Last week, a list of indictments filed by the Israeli prosecution against Khaled Abu Joudeh and his brother Zahi, from Negev, accused the two brothers of murder.
Khaled was charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and possession of a knife, among other charges.
Zahi, who the Shin Bet said acted as his brother’s accomplice and assisted him after the attack, was indicted for attempted murder, possession of a knife and obstruction of justice, among other allegations.
As for Khaled’s motives, the prosecution claimed he committed the attack out of a desire to do something on behalf of the Palestinians and Hamas.
Hebrew sources said Khaled’s original plan was not to stab a soldier, but to kidnap one for future prisoner-swap deals. For as-yet unknown reasons, Khaled abandoned this plan and instead plotted to kill an Israeli soldier and steal his gun.

The Israeli army refused, Sunday, a court order for the release of Nour Tamimi, 21, on a 5000 Israeli Shekels bail, and decided to hold her for additional 100 days, after filing a new indictment against her.
Nonviolent activist, Mohammad Tamimi, said the army decided not to release Nour on bail, although an Israeli court allowed her release, and filed a new indictment to keep her detained.
Nour Tamimi was abducted along with world-renowned teen journalist ’Ahed Tamimi, 17, and ‘Ahed’s mother, Nariman, 43, after a video recording surfaced, showing them removing Israeli soldiers from their yard, especially when the soldiers used it to fire on Palestinian protesters, in Nabi Saleh village, northwest of Ramallah.
On December 24th, an Israeli court denied an appeal for the release of ‘Ahed, who stands accused of “assaulting soldiers.”

When Ahed was 12, her mother’s cousin, Mustafa Tamimi, was killed before her eyes during a protest, shot in the head by a gas canister. One year later, she witnessed the army shoot and kill her uncle Rashadi.
Approximately two weeks ago, her cousin Mohammed, nearly her age, was shot in the face by a rubber-coated bullet that penetrated his skull.
He remains unconscious.”
