The family of the Palestinian prisoner Mohammed al-Khatib, 47, on Sunday said that al-Khatib is suffering from Paraplegia as a result of being injected with an unknown drug.
Al-Khatib's wife told the PIC reporter that she learned about her husband's illness when she intended to visit him 25 days ago as he asked her not to visit him because he was not in a good health condition.
She added that some ex-prisoners informed her that the Nafha prison doctor injected al-Khatib, who was having flu, with an unknown substance in his thigh. A few days later, it turned out that the injection had paralyzed the lower part of his body.
Al-Khatib's wife stressed that her husband was given this injection deliberately especially that the Israel Prison Service (IPS) had threatened to retaliate to al-Khatib's role in leading the latest 43-day mass strike in Raymond prison.
Head of the Prisoners Affairs Commission in Bethlehem, Munqez Abu Atwan, said that the Commission tried to send a neurologist to examine al-Khatib's condition but the IPS rejected its request.
In his interview with the PIC, Abu Atwan expressed his fear that the IPS is pursuing a slow assassination policy against al-Khatib as it did before with many prisoners.

An Israeli military court, on Wednesday, ordered 16-year-old Palestinian activist Ahed al-Tamimi to remain in custody indefinitely, until she faces trial for a number of charges relating to a video of her slapping and kicking an Israeli soldier.
The teenager was arrested on December 19, days after the video of her confrontation with the soldiers — who were raiding her hometown of Nabi Saleh, in the central occupied West Bank, and had shot her 14-year-old cousin in the face moments before the video was filmed — went viral on social media.
Now, nearly a month later, al-Tamimi has had her detention extended several times until, on Wednesday, Israel’s Ofer military court refused her lawyers’ request for bail.
During the hearing, the judge reportedly said that they could not grant the teenager bail because she was “too dangerous.”
The court also ruled to indefinitely extend the detention of Ahed’s mother, Nariman, who was detained a day after her daughter. Nariman is being charged with “incitement” for live-streaming the video.
Ahed is being charged on 12 counts, including assaulting an Israeli soldier, interfering with a soldier’s duties, and two past instances of stone throwing — which can carry up to 10 years in Israeli prison.
Since Ahed and Nariman’s arrest, Ahed’s cousin Nour was arrested — she was recently released — her aunt was detained, and recently one of her cousins was detained in an overnight raid.
Earlier this month, Ahed’s distant cousin Musaab al-Tamimi, from Nabi Saleh’s sister village of Deir Nitham, was shot and killed by Israeli forces.
The Tamimi family of Nabi Saleh is well known, internationally, for their activism against the Israeli occupation, which maintains a heavy, near-constant presence in their village.
Ahed Tamimi is famous across Palestine and the Arab world for videos of her, since her childhood, defiantly resisting Israeli soldiers who clash with Palestinians in her village nearly every week.
Two years ago, her family made headlines when an Israeli soldier violently attempted to arrest her younger brother, who had one arm in a cast at the time. Ahed and her mother manager to pull the soldier of her brother and free him.
Since her arrest, Ahed has become the subject of dozens of solidarity campaigns across the world demanding her release from Israeli prison, and an end to Israeli detention of Palestinian children.
According to Palestinian prisoners rights group Addameer, 6,171 Palestinians were being held in Israeli prison as of December, 350 of whom are children.

Ahmad Ismael Jarrar 31
The young man killed by Israeli soldiers in a pre-dawn raid in Jenin has been identified as Ahmad Ismael Jarrar, 31 – the cousin of the man that the Israeli forces were targeting.
The soldiers conducted the raid allegedly to extrajudicially execute a man (Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, 22) accused of the murder of an Israeli. But instead, they ended up killing the man’s cousin, Ahmad Ismael Jarrar. The two men look nothing alike, and are ten years separated in age.
How the Israeli soldiers confused the two is unknown, but it has become clear in the hours following the attack that they extrajudicially executed the wrong man.
Even if they had killed the targeted person, extrajudicial assassinations are considered illegal under international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Israeli soldiers killed, on Thursday at dawn, a young Palestinian man, after shooting him with live fire, and a shell, in his home, in Wad Burqin area, west of Jenin, as he exchanged fire with them when they surrounded his home.
Israel claims that the Palestinian, identified as Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, 22, participated in the fatal shooting last week, when an Israeli colonist, identified as Rabbi Raziel Shevach, was killed in a drive-by shooting.
It is worth mentioning that Ahmad is the son of Nasr Jarrar, who was killed by Israeli army fire in Jenin, in 2002.
Hours after killing Nasr, the soldiers detonated his home, by firing shells and heavy fire at it, then a military bulldozer leveled it, after using loud speakers, ordering the Palestinians in the building to surrender, and abducted them.
After detonating and demolishing the home, the soldiers continued to fire live rounds, while sounds of further explosions could be heard, but the soldiers refused to allow ambulances and firefighters from entering the area.
The invasion and the killing of the young man, led to massive protests, before the soldiers fired dozens of live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs, causing several injuries, including at least one, who was shot with live fire.
On Wednesday, evening that soldiers invaded Jenin, and Jenin refugee camp, confiscated surveillance recordings, before abducting two Palestinians, and injured many others.
The soldiers also invaded and ransacked several stores, and confiscated surveillance recordings, in Jenin city.
At least thirty vehicles participated in the invasion into Jenin and Jenin refugee camp, after the soldiers surrounded, and isolated, many areas.
