The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) has warned that the Israeli prison service (IPS) intends to extract an official decision to jail Palestinian minors separately from the adult prisoners who represent and take care of them.
“This is what has actually happened with the detained children who were transferred to Damon jail as a first step to implement such decision,” PPS stated on Tuesday.
PPS pointed out that this decision could be implemented only in the jails located in Israel (the 1948 occupied lands) such as Damon and Megiddo jails and not in the West Bank (the 1967 occupied lands), where the Ofer jail is located.
There are about 200 Palestinian children in the jails of Ofer, Megiddo and Damon, and IPS recently transferred many of them from the West Bank jail of Ofer to Damon jail to isolate them from their representatives.

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has said that the Palestinian female detainees suffer from very difficult incarceration conditions in Israeli jails.
The Commission’s lawyer, who visited the detained women in Damon jail, said the female prisoners complained of being detained in solitary cells under harsh condition before transferring them to another jail.
They are detained in solitary confinement for about one month in Hasharon jail before moving them to Damon jail, according to the lawyer.
The prisoners also told the lawyer about their need for a female doctor and access to appropriate medical treatment, especially for those having injuries or chronic medical problems.
In addition, the prisoners and their families are exposed to maltreatment and humiliation at the hands of Israeli jailers during visits. They are also deprived of phoning their families and obtaining sewing and handicraft kits.
There are 41 Palestinian women in Damon jails, including four administratively detained with no guilt and 18 mothers.

Walid Hanatsheh, was brutally tortured to the point that his wife could not recognize him. video
Online calls grew on Monday to protect Palestinians, especially Palestinian prisoners from the Israeli torture.

Activists tweeted photos and witnesses of tortured Palestinian prisoners with the hashtag #StopTorturingPalestinians.
Journalist and activist Denny Cormier posted a photo of an Israeli soldier arresting Palestinian children after removing their clothes and wrote: “Shame on the world who is still silent and has not taken any action toward Israel’s violence against Palestinian detainees yet. #StopTorturingPalestinians” tweet
Journalist Robert Inlakesh tweeted: “The international community continues to ignore such flagrant violations of human rights, such as the torture of political prisoners, committed by Israel. tweet
Israel arrests/detains 500-700+ Palestinian children every year, some younger than 10.
Abdel Karim tweeted: “There are currently over 5000 Palestinian prisoners inside israeli jails. Palestinian prisoners are FREEDOM FIGHTERS. tweet
A recent report by Addameer revealed that 95% of those who got arrested have been subjected to different types of torture although most of them had no relations to any military activities.
Addameer stated that the occupation state has been trying, through an integrated methodology, to go after all forms of political and trade union activities throughout Palestine.
Lawyers and families of several Palestinian prisoners have recently complained about increased torture during arrest and interrogation.
The mother of Mais Abu Ghoush (22 years old) stated that she could not embrace her daughter because of the pains she had all over her body.
The wife of Waleed Hanatsheh told QNN that she did not even recognize her husband until he called her, due to the severe torture to which he was subjected.
Children prisoners were not an exception. In 2018, Amnesty International called out the “widespread, systematic and institutionalised ill treatment of Palestinian children”.
It stated that the occupation state is the only country that “automatically prosecutes children in military courts that lack fundamental fair rights and guarantees.”
Israeli forces had “tortured and otherwise ill-treated Palestinian detainees, including children, particularly during arrest and interrogation”, with methods including “beating with batons, slapping, throttling, prolonged shackling, stress positions, sleep deprivation and threats.”

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) has reported, last Thursday, that an Israeli appellate court has accepted an appeal filed by the prosecutor’s office demanding to raise the prison sentence of a detained Palestinian teen from the 18 years to life in prison.
The PPS stated that the ruling was part of a deliberate Israeli policy targeting dozens of detainees, including Ayham Sabah, 18, who was only 14 years of age when he was taken prisoner.
The teen was convicted of killing an off-duty Israeli soldier at a shopping center on February 18th, 2016 and was ordered to pay more than a million Israeli shekels in compensation for the family of the soldier, identified as Tuvia Yanai Weissman, 21.
The incident in question took place when two 14-year-old Palestinians were shot and critically injured after carrying out a stabbing attack that left one Israeli killed and one injured in the Rami Levi supermarket, located in the Shaare Benyamin industrial complex, northwest of Jerusalem, in the occupied West Bank.
An Israeli police spokesperson said that two Palestinians entered the supermarket in the illegal Israeli settlement before stabbing the two Israelis, aged 17 and 35. Both Palestinians were shot and critically injured by an armed civilian present at the scene.
The spokesperson initially reported both Palestinians dead. The 35-year-old Israeli died from stab wounds in the upper body and torso shortly after.
