The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) have stepped up violations of Palestinians’ rights and attacks on Muslims’ holy sites in Occupied Jerusalem city, a report released by the Wadi Hilweh Information center on Thursday revealed.
Israeli army and police detained 150 Palestinians in several neighborhoods of Occupied Jerusalem, the report documented.
Among those arrested were 19 women, including a minor, and 60 male minors, six among whom were under 12 years old and four others below the age of 10.
One of the detained children was kidnapped on his way to school under the pretext of stone-hurling.
Most of the arrests took place in the village of Silwan (with 35 arrests), al-Issawiya (26 arrests), Jerusalem’s Old City (21 arrests) and Beit Hanina (19 arrests).
The report also kept record of 22 cases of entry bans denying a number of Muslim worshipers the right to enter holy al-Aqsa Mosque for periods ranging from 15 days to four months as part of a larger collective-punishment-policy aimed to crack down on Jerusalemite Muslims.
The entry bans slapped by the Israeli occupation authorities targeted 14 Palestinian ladies.
Meanwhile, over 620 Israeli extremist settlers and 210 armed officers vandalized al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of June.
The report documented several cases of violations and assaults on Jerusalemite Palestinians and their properties; most notable among these is a shooting attack, by the Israeli army officers, that has left the 18-year-old youngster Yasser Yassin Tarwa critically wounded. Yasser kept bleeding for a long while and was left without treatment on allegations that he stabbed a border guard in Bab al-Amoud.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center also recorded evidence for attacks on peaceful mass-rallies such as the "Jerusalem is Ours" carnival staged in Bab al-Amoud. The Israeli army quelled the march and showered the non-violent rally-goers with tear gas and rubber bullets in an attempt to disband them.
Settler attacks have also been on the rise. Eyewitnesses have frequently reported instances of physical assaults on Jerusalemite children.
Israeli vandals have also repeatedly carried out preplanned hit-and-run attacks in Occupied Jerusalem. A Palestinian lady was recently hit by an Israeli settler in Bab al-Amoud as she tried to reach the other side of the road.
The report documented three cases of demolition of Palestinian family homes under the pretext of unlicensed construction.
Sacred to Muslims, Occupied Jerusalem is home to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which for Muslims represents the world’s third holiest site.
International law views East Jerusalem as an occupied territory, considering all Jewish settlement building on the land to be illegal.

The Israeli occupation army claimed on Thursday night that officers were able to foil a stabbing attack near the southern West Bank province of al-Khalil.
According to the Israeli army radio, the incident began when an 18-year-old Palestinian youngster approached a border police barrier.
The officers noticed that the suspect was acting suspiciously and called on him to stop for further investigation, the radio said.
As the officers were arresting the suspect, he dropped a knife that he was carrying on his body, the same source added.
The Israeli occupation officers then moved quickly to nab the youth pending further interrogation.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Friday stormed Awarta town, south of Nablus, and kidnapped two Palestinian young men from their homes.
Local sources told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that a large number of Israeli soldiers aboard military vehicles invaded Awarta at two o'clock after midnight and raided the house of Abdul-Salam al-Jamal, an anti-settlement activist.
They added that the invading troops interrogated Jamal for several hours, ransacked the house and confiscated a computer and cellphones before taking him blindfolded and handcuffed to an undeclared place.
The IOF also questioned and arrested Hazza'a Lawlah during a similar raid on his house in the town.
Both of the young men had been ex-detainees in Israeli jails and spent some time in the Palestinian Authority's detention centers in the West Bank.

Israeli soldiers detained, on Thursday afternoon, the Governor of Ramallah al-Biereh, Laila Ghannam, as she was trying to cross the Hizma roadblock, north of occupied Jerusalem, on her way to the commemoration service of Mohammad Abu Khdeir.
The soldiers held the governor for more than two hours, and tried to confiscate her mobile phone, and the phones of her delegation members, after alleging they took pictures of them.
In a press conference, Ghannam said Israel and its military are always acting on controlling every aspect of the Palestinian life, through its illegal and immoral occupation.
“They are trying to silence us, especially amidst the Arab and international idleness regarding the ongoing crimes against our people, and the suffering,” she stated, “Despite their violations, our people will remain steadfast and determined to achieve their legitimate rights of liberation, and independence.”
The Palestinians commemorated the murder of 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir, who was brutally tortured and burned alive by a group of fanatic right-wing Israelis, after kidnapping him one year ago.

The IOA has issued more than 50,000 administrative detention orders against Palestinians since 1967, including 24,000 orders that were issued after the second Intifada.

A Palestinian detainee currently being held in the Israeli prison system has entered an open-ended hunger strike over his administrative detention without charge or trial, according to the Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs (CPA) and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
According to WAFA, two organizations reported on prisoner Nour Elayyan, from al-Jalazoun refugee camp, near Ramallah, who began a hunger strike to protest the renewal of his administrative detention. Elayyan was arrested six months ago and recently received a detention renewal order.
This announcement comes only a day after Khader Adnan, the first prisoner to launch an open-ended hunger strike that lasted 66 days, reached a deal with Israel to be released on July 12 and not be detained again.
Adnan protested his illegal detention for 55 days before Israel agreed to release him and not detain him again without charge or trial. Similar hunger strikes are now used as a tool to pressure Israel into granting Palestinian prisoners their rights guaranteed by international law.
According to the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem, “Israel's use of administrative detention blatantly violates the restrictions of international law. Israel carries it out in a highly classified manner that denies detainees the possibility of mounting a proper defense. Moreover, the detention has no upper time limit.”
Under administrative detention, Israel holds prisoners in jail without charge or trial and for renewable periods of time. This form of detention is often used when there is no clear evidence that a prisoner has committed an act that is punishable under Israeli laws.
The use of administrative detention dates from the “emergency laws” of the British colonial era in Palestine, but is now used by Israel as a routine form of collective punishment of Palestinians.
“Over the years, Israel has placed thousands of Palestinians in administrative detention for prolonged periods of time, without trying them, without informing them of the charges against them, and without allowing them or their counsel to examine the evidence,” B’Tselem reports.

Jordanian gold used for funding
Joint effort by security service, IDF, and police has uncovered cell working towards renewal of activity in the West Bank, partly financed by gold smuggled from Jordan.
The Shin Bet security service has, with the help of the IDF and Israel Police, uncovered over the last few months a large Hamas cell active in the city of Nablus and surrounding towns. The news was cleared for publication on Wednesday.
The cell's leaders were working to renew Hamas activity in the West Bank, including laying the foundation for terror attacks.
The investigation also led to the discovery of a Hamas military cell that was preparing to launch attacks.
Around 40 people were arrested, including senior Hamas members who have been jailed repeatedly.
Questioning of the arrestees revealed that Hamas decided to renew its activities in the West Bank by creating a central headquarters in Nablus and expanding infrastructure, including the appointment of regional chiefs and allocating responsibilities in areas such as education, finance, communications, intelligence, gaining support, charity, transferring financial assistance to Hamas prisoners and their families, and laying the foundation for military action.
The terrorists concealed their activities by using couriers and PO boxes. Funds were transferred partially by purchasing gold from Jordan and smuggling it into the West Bank.
