The Israeli Internal Security Service (Shin Bet) and the Police in Jerusalem have officially announced, Thursday, the identity of the Palestinian who allegedly stabbed, on May 24, two Israelis near the Damascus Gate.
The Jerusalem Post stated that the Police released, Thursday, previously sealed details on the attack.
The Shin Bet said the attacker, identified as John Kakish, 19 years of age, is a Palestinian Christian from the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem, and that he confessed during interrogation that he wanted “to take revenge on the Jews,” according to the report.
The incident in question came during the Shavuot Jewish holiday; the Shin Bet said John was arrested several times before allegedly for “other assaults on Israelis.”
Following the stabbing, Israeli paramedics of Magen David Adom said the two Israelis, 17 years of age, suffered moderate injuries and were moved to Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital.
Israeli sources said the attack took place around 2:30 a.m. on May 24, “as the two were likely towards the Western Wall.”
The sources added that Kakish was identified as he appeared on a security camera footage reportedly trying to escape after stabbing the two Israelis, and that the police located, near the stabbing site, a knife and other items that tie Kakish to the attack.
According to the Shin Bet, Kakish told the interrogators that he carried the attack out after being subject to a number of assaults, and racist slogans by Israeli fanatics.

Israel's navy, on Thursday, detained five Palestinian fishermen off the northern Gaza Strip, witnesses told Ma'an New Agency.
Israeli naval forces stopped a fishing boat belonging to the Bakr family near al-Sudaniyya and abducted five people.
The detainees were taken to an unknown location and their boat was confiscated.
A day earlier, four fishermen were detained off the coast of Gaza City and their two fishing boats confiscated. In a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas last summer, Israel agreed to expand the fishing zone off Gaza's coast, allowing fishermen to sail as far as six nautical miles from shore and to continue to expand the area gradually, however fishermen are routinely stopped within the zone.
Three Palestinian fishermen have been shot dead by Israeli forces since September.
Risk of death or detention by Israeli forces is compounded by ongoing harassment and interference with their work from Israeli naval forces who frequently confiscate boats and fishing materials.
IOF rounds up five fishermen of one family in Gaza
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested on Thursday morning five Palestinian fishermen of one family in Gaza sea.
Nizar Ayyash, the chairman of Palestinian fishermen syndicate said, in an exclusive statement for the PIC, that the IOF arrested five fishermen of Baker family off al-Sudaniya coast to the north of Gaza Strip.
He pointed out that the IOF soldiers carry out arrest operations against Gazan fishermen on a semi-daily basis.
All of the fishermen are residents of al-Shati refugee camp in western Gaza city. They are 16-39-year-old fishermen, he added.
The chairman of the syndicate appealed to the international community to intervene for protecting fishermen in Gaza from Israeli soldiers. He also stressed the necessity to oblige the Israeli occupation to abide by the provisions of agreements signed on the allowed fishing zone of 20 miles.
The attack is another episode in the series of Israeli daily violations of the Cairo-brokered truce accord signed in the wake of last summer’s offensive on the besieged coastal enclave, which killed over 2,300 Palestinians, mostly civilians.

Tension has been running high across the Israeli occupation jails, most notably Nafha, Rimon, Eshel, Ofer and Negev, due to the random and exhausting inter-prison transfers carried out by the prison authorities against Palestinian detainees.
A PIC news correspondent quoted local media outlets reporting that the Israeli prison authorities recently locked up female detainee Layla Abu Rjeila along with male inmates Hasan Salama, Mu’adh Bilal, and M’amar al-Shahruri in solitary confinement after they voiced their disapproval of the arbitrary inter-prison transfer policy perpetrated by the Israeli occupation wardens on groundless accounts.
Informed sources warned that the situation would blow up soon as tension has hit climactic heights inside of Israeli jails due to the non-humanitarian policies and torture tactics implemented by the prison authorities against Palestinian detainees, mainly those affiliated with Hamas.

“From the bottom of my heart, I express my gratitude for your support and solidarity. May Allah restore our freedom so that we can rejoin our families soon,” he added.
“They [Israeli jailers] took it upon themselves to dash my hopes; I take it upon myself to win the fight by all means possible, God willing,” prisoner Adnan further wrote, vowing to keep going until his freedom sees the day.

Khader Adnan is a former Palestinian detainee of the Israeli state. Authorities had not laid any formal charges against him, but said he was arrested for "activities that threaten regional security". He was released on 18 April, 2012, after being on hunger strike for 66 days. Adnan, 37 years old, was arrested for the 10th time on July 8, 2014. He has been on hunger strike since May 5 in protest of the prison authorities’ decision to renew his administrative detention for the third time in a row. Israel had initially referred Adnan to administrative detention for a period of six months. At the end of that period, his detention was renewed for another six months (which was later shortened to four months), followed by a third four-month extension.

The Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) continued to delay releasing the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Speaker Aziz Dweik despite serving his one-year sentence.
PLC Speaker is supposed to be released on May 25, 2015 as he was arrested on June 16, 2014, where according to the Israeli law 23 days have to be reduced per year from each prisoner’s sentence.
Dweik was sentenced to one year and fined 6,000 shekels.
His family expressed surprise over the international human rights organizations and Parliamentary institutions’ continued silence towards Israeli violations against him despite he represents the highest Palestinian legislative body.
The family called on official and non-official human rights institutions to bear their responsibilities and to work for Dweik’s release.

The Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) the prisoner Ahmed Saadat threatened to declare an open hunger strike in protest against “Israeli unjustified ban on his family visits,” Palestinian sources said Wednesday.
The Palestinian Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs affirmed that Saadat, who is currently held in Jarboa jail, is subjected to an Israeli systematic policy to completely isolate him from the external world.
He has been routinely transferred from jail to another amid a continued ban on his family visits, the sources clarified.
Saadat has been prevented from family visits according to an order issued by the Israeli Intelligence Services (Shin Bet).
PFLP Secretary General was kidnapped in 2006 from PA Jericho prison after being brutally stormed by Israeli forces. He was then sentenced to 30 years imprisonment for being allegedly involved in killing of the Israeli minister Rehavam Zeevi in 2001.

Father of the Palestinian administrative detainee Majd Zahi Abdul Karem al-Sa’di, 26, appealed on Tuesday to the national and international human rights institutions to step up pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to release his sick son before it is too late.
Majd’s father said in a press statement his son should be urgently unshackled from Israeli jails, where he has been locked up administratively, with neither charge nor trial.
He raised concerns over the sharp exacerbation in his son’s health status due to the physical and moral harassment he has been subjected to all the way through such an “oppressive and long” detention period.
He said his son has been diagnosed with critical psychiatric disorders, spinal disc herniation, and pains inflicted by a varicose veins surgery, making his health condition all the more critical.
The father added that Majd should be urgently hospitalized and given a special medical care so as to be able to recover from the excruciating pains hitting his body.
He sounded the alarm over the preplanned medical neglect perpetrated by the Israeli prison authorities, who have been denying his son the right to undergo needed medical check-ups and therapy as part of the psycho-physical torture tactic implemented in Israeli prisons.
