The Magistrate judge decided to release Mai Bassam Assaileh (14) on Sunday night if the police fail to submit additional evidence to extend her arrest.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center’s lawyer, Khaldoun Nijem, explained that the Israeli police filed a request to extend the arrest of his client on charges of “possession of a knife and preparing to carry out an attack”.
During the hearing, the lawyer filed an appeal against the preliminary evidence filed by the police for the two charges.
After hearing the lawyer’s allegations, the judge decided that his client Mai would be released on Sunday evening if no new evidence was presented by the police in order to extend her arrest.

The Palestinian Minister of Education in the West Bank Sabri Saidam on Sunday said that 340 Palestinian university students are being held in Israeli jails.
This was voiced during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society on the Israeli violations against Palestinian academic institutions.
Saidam condemned what happened at Birzeit University on Wednesday when a group of Israeli undercover soldiers broke into the campus and arrested the president of the student union Omar al-Kiswani after disguising as journalists.
Saidam said that a massacre could have happened at the university as the Israeli soldiers heavily opened fire during the arrest operation.
He described the attack as a "state terrorism" and called on the International Association of Universities and the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to urgently act against these violations.

Israeli courts sentenced eight Palestinian detainees for prison terms of up to 26 months and bails of over 2,000 shekels each.
According to a Sunday report by the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Israel’s Ofer military court sentenced prisoner Saber al-Abiyat to 26 months and 4,000 shekels.
Wael Id’is was also sentenced to 24 months and a bail of 4,000 shekels.
Kusay Sbeih received a sentence of 15 months and a fine of 2,000 shekels; Amrou Kawar was sentenced to 11 months and a bail of 3,000 shekels.

A Palestinian boy was kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces at noontime Sunday near the Salem military court, west of Jenin province.
A PIC news correspondent said Israeli soldiers sealed off the main entrance to Salem military camp and combed the area allegedly after a boy holding an explosive device was spotted in the area.
The boy was kidnapped by Israeli soldiers moments later.
Israeli sources claimed the boy was carrying a home-made bomb.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Sunday at dawn, several Palestinian communities in the West Bank governorate of Jericho and abducted four Palestinians.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said the soldiers invaded and searched many homes in Jericho, before abducting the four Palestinians.
The PPS identified the abducted Palestinians as Karam Nasser ‘Ayed, ‘Ameed Rajeh Kteifi, Mo’in Tareq Eqeila and Hamza Jamal Hdeib.

The Palestinian prisoner Ameer Asaad, a resident of Kafr Kanna town in the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories, continues on Saturday his hunger strike in Gilboa prison for the 24th day in a row in protest at his detention conditions.
Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission said that Asaad, who uses a wheelchair because of a disability he suffers from, has waged an open hunger strike in protest at the inhuman treatment he is being subjected to in Gilboa prison.
The Commission's lawyer said, quoting Asaad, that although Asaad's case requires special treatment, the Israel Prison Service refuses to transfer him to section No. (1) where bathrooms are suitable for wheelchair access.
The Commission affirmed that Asaad is being held in solitary confinement under difficult detention conditions, adding that Asaad affirmed that he will not suspend his strike until his humanitarian demands are met.
It also called for his immediate release, holding the Israeli government fully responsible for his life.

The WAFA Palestinian News Agency said hundreds of soldiers and police officers had deployed in the occupied city on Friday, and closed many main roads, west and east of the city, to prepare for a Marathon.
The Palestinians protested the Israeli marathon because Jerusalem is an occupied city, and such events are only meant to strengthen and normalize the illegal occupation. They decided to organize their own event, but the police prevented them.
The police also abducted nonviolent activist, Mohammad Abu al-Hummus, after assaulting him on Nablus Street near Damascus Gate, and confiscated his car along with the Palestinian flags and athletes’ outfits he was transporting. They also abducted Fadi al-Mitwer.

63 Palestinian women are currently held in Israeli jails and detention centers, Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said in a report marking the International Women’s Day.
At least six of the 63 female Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails are under the age of 18, the group added.
The number also includes nine injured female prisoners and 17 mothers, according to the sources.
The PPS also documented that over 15,000 Palestinian women have been detained by Israel since 1967.

Ex-detainee Fadi Farah, rapporteur of the Jordanian committee for prisoners and missing citizens, stated in a press release that Omlah crossed into the Jordanian territory on Wednesday afternoon after the Israeli prison service released him recently.
Omlah was arrested on August 4, 2016 after he visited relatives in the occupied West Bank and was en route to Jordan.
Soon later, an Israeli court sentenced him to 16 months in jail and ordered him to pay a financial penalty.
