Israeli soldiers invaded on Tuesday the town of Qabatia, south of Jenin, and poured concrete into the room of detainee Yousef Khaled Kamil.
The family said that the soldiers surrounded their property, and poured the concrete into their detained son’s room in their family home. Yousef is imprisoned by Israel for allegedly killing an Israeli last year in Kafr Qassem.
Jenin Governor Kamil Abu ar-Rob said the soldiers poured 42 cubic meters of concrete into the room as a form of collective punishment against the family. He added that the soldiers were unable to demolish the property, because the family’s residence is located in an apartment building. video
Instead, they filled a room in the building with concrete, which will render the apartment building structurally unsound, and inevitably cause it to collapse.
During the invasion, the soldiers attacked Palestinian protesters and fired rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs and concussion grenades, in addition to invading homes and occupying their rooftops.
Israeli authorities have a policy of attacking the family home of any Palestinian they have taken into custody on suspicion of harming an Israeli. Instead of holding a trial and sentencing the alleged assailant, the Palestinian who stands accused of a crime against an Israeli must face a military tribunal with no access to adequate legal counsel, as the Palestinian Territories are under Israeli martial law, and have been since 1967.
In addition to charging the accused under a military tribunal, the Israeli authorities also send troops to demolish the family home of any Palestinian who is accused of a crime against Israelis.
This is the only place on earth that engages in this type of practice, which is classified as ‘collective punishment’ and a ‘war crime’ under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
According to the Israeli Committee Against Home Demolitions, in 2017 alone, 351 structures were demolished by Israeli forces, rendering 528 Palestinians homeless.
The Israeli organization has noted that 48,743 structures have been demolished by Israeli forces since 1967.

The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, Adalah, issued a statement Tuesday contending that Israeli prison authorities have refused to provide heat, blankets, warm clothing to Palestinian prisoners that they are holding without charges in Israeli prisons..
Adalah initially sent a letter on March 4 to IPS Commissioner Ofra Klinger and Israeli Prison Service (IPS) legal advisor attorney Yochi Gensin demanding that they provide blankets to Palestinians classified as “security prisoners,” refrain from limiting the number of blankets an individual may use, and allow heaters in cells.
Adalah also demanded the IPS allow families to bring blankets for the prisoners and that it cancel orders that allow the confiscation of blankets as a punitive measure.
According to Adalah’s press release, recent testimony received by the rights organization from imprisoned individuals illustrates the harsh living conditions and severe cold faced in IPS prisons.
The prisoners “are not provided with warm clothing or blankets and don’t have the option of bringing heaters into their cells, Adalah Attorney Muna Haddad wrote in the letter. “The IPS regulations the number of blankets that prisoners may bring into their cells and do not permit receiving blankets from their families. The cost of blankets at the prison canteen is so excessive that prisoners are unable to obtain them there.”
Similar conditions were described in a public defender’s report issued in June 2017, which stressed that “the IPS is obligated to supply prisoners with means of heating [their cells], which will allow them to protect their health, particularly given that their cells are open and bitter cold during the winter.”
In her letter, attorney Haddad wrote that the IPS is violating its obligation to provide for the minimal needs of prisoners. IPS orders specify that “a prisoner shall be held in appropriate conditions that do not harm his health or dignity” and that prisoners have a right to “a bed, mattress, and blankets for personal use.”
In addition, the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners specifies that “All accommodation provided for the use of prisoners and in particular all sleeping accommodation shall meet all requirements of health, due regard being paid to climatic conditions and particularly to cubic content of air, minimum floor space, lighting, heating, and ventilation.”

Israeli Haaretz newspaper said that an Israeli occupation police detective has been charged with beating a Palestinian minor to force him to confess throwing stones at cars driven by Israeli settlers.
Despite the seriousness of the offense, the so called Israeli Justice Ministry’s department for the investigation of police officers charged the detective with a lesser assault crime.
The incident came to light when a voice recording of an interview-under-duress was found in the police case files given to the suspect’s lawyer. In the recording, detective Yehuda Gigi is heard beating the Palestinian Mohammed Shuqair, who was only 17 years old. The recording was presumably accidental, according to Haaretz.
The lawyers of the boy and a cousin who was arrested with him raised the matter of the assault after listening to the recording, resulting in the complaint to the ministry’s unit for investigations of police.
Despite the gravity of Gigi’s actions, he was charged only with simple assault, which carried a maximum punishment of two years in prison. The detective could have been charged with a number of more serious offenses, including aggravated assault, that could result in prison terms of three or four years. Gigi was not suspended from active duty, either.
According to the charge sheet filed in Rishon Letzion Magistrate’s Court in January, Mohammed Shuqair of Salfit, was arrested in November 2016 along with his cousin on suspicion of throwing stones.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Monday arrested a number of Palestinians in raids and sweeps launched in different West Bank provinces.
Thousands of shekels were confiscated during the raids under the pretext that they belong to Hamas.

Palestinian minister of education Sabri Saidem has said that Israel’s violation of the inviolability of the Birzeit University campus and its kidnapping of its student council head Omar Kiswani is a crime that must not go unnoticed.
In a news conference held in Ramallah, Saidam called on all local and international legal and human rights institutions to shoulder their responsibilities to curb such Israeli violations, describing what happened as “organized state terrorism and unprecedented insolence.”
“We assert that the International Association of Universities, the Association of Arab Universities, the parliamentary bodies, the human rights organizations and the academic institutions are demanded more than ever to bear their responsibilities and raise their voices towards such violations,” the minister said.
Last Wednesday, Israeli plain-clothes officers infiltrated into the Birzeit University campus near Ramallah and arrested Omar Kiswani, president of its student council.
Online video footage showed six men dressed in civilian clothing pinning Kiswani to the ground, kicking and beating him while a few of them fired gunshots on campus.
According to Birzeit University, the group attacked Kiswani, 24, in front of the student council building.
Another armed Israeli unit had detained the university's guards in a room and "proceeded to use their firearms against the students while providing cover for the kidnapping operation".
"They were carrying guns inside their bags, they disguised as students and started shooting in broad daylight," Sondos Hamad, coordinator of the Right to Education campaign, told al-Jazeera Net on the same day.
"They took him to the western gate of the university where Israeli military forces were waiting for him with their jeeps. We don't know where he is now,” he added.
