Israel today re-arrested a Palestinian man as he was getting ready to leave prison after serving 18 years behind bars for resisting the Israeli occupation, according to local sources.
Randy Odeh, 39, from Shufat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem, was arrested on 7 February 2002 and sentenced to 18 years in prison.
He was supposed to be released today but as he was getting ready to leave the Naqab prison in the south of Israel, he was re-detained.
Odeh was about to get married today immediately upon his release from prison, but it seems the Israeli authorities wanted to sabotage his wedding and his family’s celebration of his release by keeping him in prison on his wedding day, said the sources.

Israeli forces detained this morning 11 Palestinians, including former prisoners, from several areas in the occupied West Bank, said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

The Israeli occupation police on Wednesday informed Sheikh Najeh Bakirat, deputy director of the Islamic Awqaf in Jerusalem and head of al-Aqsa Academy for Science and Heritage, that he would not be allowed to enter the Aqsa Mosque for one week.
The Israeli police did not provide a reason for its decision to ban his entry. They already imposed a similar entry ban on Sheikh Bakirat 22 times before.
Jerusalemite sources said that Sheikh Bakirat received the police order after he was questioned about his presence inside the Aqsa Mosque at al-Qishla detention center in the holy city.
The police also asked him to come back again next Tuesday for further interrogation.

Israeli forces invaded several parts of the West Bank in pre-dawn raids Wednesday March 3rd, abducting 21 Palestinian citizens from their homes while they were asleep in bed.
