After 13 years in Israeli jails, the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Thursday evening released Palestinian prisoner Mohamed Abu Rizq, a resident of Balata refugee camp in Nablus city.
Abu Rizq was arrested on November 11, 2004 on charges related to his involvement in armed activities against Israel before he was released from the Negev jail yesterday.
Scores of citizens rallied last night at the entrance of Balata camp and celebrated the release of Abu Rizq.

A number of Palestinians were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces in abduction sweeps rocking the West Bank at daybreak Friday.
Dozens of Israeli soldiers stormed Jenin’s southern town of Yabad and ransacked civilian homes before they come down heavily on the inhabitants.
The list of arrestees included Palestinian young men Mohamed Hamarsha and Khaled Abu Bakr.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Thursday evening, the village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, shot and injured one child and abducted a young man.
Media sources said the soldiers fired live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs at many youngsters, who protested the invasion.
They added that one child was shot with rubber-coated bullets in the lower part of his body, and was moved to a nearby hospital.
Furthermore, the soldiers abducted a young man, and took him to an unknown destination.
The incidents took place after several army jeeps invaded Nabi Saleh and attacked dozens of Palestinians commemorating the thirteenth anniversary of the death of late President Yasser Arafat.
In related news, the soldiers closed a military roadblock near Ya’bad town, southwest of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, for more than four hours, reportedly after local youths hurled stones at them.
The soldiers then detained two children while walking nearby, and held them for several hours.

The Palestinian journalist Mohammed al-Qiq, 35, was released on Wednesday after serving his sentence in Israeli jails.
Qiq was arrested in January 2017 at a military checkpoint to the north of Ramallah city. He later waged a hunger strike, his second in less than two years in Israeli jails, in protest at his administrative detention which he was able to put an end to. However, an Israeli court accused him of being involved in incitement against Israel and sentenced him to 10 months and a half in prison.
Qiq, a father of two, is known for his 94-day hunger strike waged in protest at his incarceration under administrative detention between 2015 and 2016. He also participated in the Freedom and Dignity mass hunger strike launched by hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails despite his deteriorated health condition.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said the soldiers invaded and ransacked many homes in several parts of Ramallah governorate, in central West Bank, and abducted six Palestinians.
It identified the abducted Palestinians as Bajes Nakhla and Amir Abu Sbeih, from al-Jalazoun refugee camp, Obeida Hussein Abu Alia and Majed al-Beesi Abu Alia from al-Mughayer town, Ahmad Saleh Awajna, from Kafr Malek, and Mohammad Bar’awi, from Um ash-Sharayet.
In Hebron governorate, in the southern part of the West Bank, the soldiers abducted Hazem Jibril al-Jeyyawi, 31, Jihad Abdullah al-Ajlouni, 18, and Khaled Mahmoud Sarahna, 30.
Furthermore, the soldiers abducted Issa al-’Arouj, 21, from his home in Bethlehem, after invading the property and violently searching it, causing excessive damage, and illegally confiscated 100 Jordanian Dinars.
Another Palestinian, identified as Majd Khaled Tambouz, 20, was abducted by the soldiers at a military roadblock between Nablus and Tulkarem.

The IOF also raided a house in Kafr Malik town, northeast of Ramallah, and kidnapped a young man called Ahmed Abu Jamil.
Two young men were taken prisoners during an IOF campaign in Silwad town, east of Ramallah. One of them is the brother of martyr Anas Hammad, who carried out a car-ramming attack two years ago.
IOF campaigns also took place in Qalqilya city, Qaffin town near Tulkarem, and Taqua town in Bethlehem.
In Jerusalem, Israeli policemen raided neighborhoods in the Old City and handed some young men summonses for interrogation.

The 19-year-old son of the Palestinian prisoner Rajab al-Tahan, Majd, died on Tuesday evening after a battle with cancer.
Rajab al-Tahan announced on 15th October that he will start a hunger strike in Israeli jails after the efforts made by many human rights institutions to convince the Israeli occupation authorities to allow him to visit his son had failed.
On 26th October, the Israeli court decided to delay its response to a petition filed by the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission to allow Tahan to see his sick son at the hospital.
Tahan was able to visit his dying son late October at Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem after the Beersheba District Court accepted the request submitted by his family and the Prisoners Commission.

After serving 13 years in Israeli jails, he was released in the 2011 Wafa al-Ahrar deal. The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Tuesday arrested a sick Palestinian youth from Beit Ummar town to the north of al-Khalil city.
Local sources reported that the IOF soldiers stationed near Gush Etzion settlement bloc arrested Ahmad Awad, 24, while he was returning home from hospital.

The Palestinian Prisoners Center for Studies on Tuesday called on human rights organizations to intervene to save the life of the 22-year-old Palestinian prisoner, Osama Hammad, who is facing severe medical problems in Israeli jails.
The Center said, quoting Osama's father, Hasan, that Osama has been subjected to medical negligence since the first year of his detention, adding that his health condition started to deteriorate during his interrogation at al-Maskoubiya detention center.
Osama's father expressed his deep concern over his son's health following a visit he paid to him at the Israeli Negev prison. Hammad said that his son's face looked pale and he was unable to speak or move naturally.
The Center pointed out that Osama was supposed to undergo a hernia surgery before his arrest and that he has repeatedly asked the Israeli Prison Service to allow him to have the surgery yet procrastination is the case.

Prisoner Samer Madhiyeh was also sentenced to a jail-term of three years and nine months, along with a fine of nearly $2,000.
The Israeli court further ruled that prisoner Anwar Ikhlil be incarcerated in Israeli lock-ups for a period of two years and pay a fine of over $500.

The United Nations expressed on Monday concerns over the situation of 500 Palestinian children incarcerated in Israeli jails.
U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said during a press conference held at the UN headquarters in New York that the number of Palestinian minors held in Israeli lock-ups has hit 500.
The UN official called on Israel to either work out the legal situation of minor detainees and of all Palestinians held with neither charge nor trial in occupation prisons, or to release them immediately.

U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said during a press conference held at the UN headquarters in New York that the number of Palestinian minors held in Israeli lock-ups has hit 500.
The UN official called on Israel to either work out the legal situation of minor detainees and of all Palestinians held with neither charge nor trial in occupation prisons, or to release them immediately.
