Palestinian prisoner Ra'ed Mousa, 35, has entered the 24th day of his open-ended hunger strike, which he staged in protest at his administrative detention for about a year with no guilt. Mousa, who is detained in the Negev jail, was kidnapped on November 11, 2013 and received then an administrative prison term for six months before another six-month extension was issued against him.
Later, his jailers refused his appeals to release him and reduced his second administrative prison term to four months, which prompted him to go on hunger strike for 43 days, but after pledges not to extend his detention and make it the last term for him, he suspended his hunger strike.
After he completed the four months, the jailers broke their promise and extended last month his administrative detention for another four months.

The Palestinian Committee of Detainee has reported that Israeli soldiers have escalated their attacks against Palestinian political prisoner, held at the Negev Detention camp, under arbitrary Administrative Detention orders without charges or trial.
Lawyer Mo’taz Shqeirat, of the detainees' committee, said he managed to visit the detainees two days ago, and was informed of escalated assaults and violations against them, and against their visiting family members.
Ailing detainees are still denied access to medical attention, while dozens require specialized care and attention, but are not receiving the needed treatment and medications.
Shqeirat stated the soldiers are frequently invading the detainees’ tents, ransacking them, and are searching the detainees in a violent and provocative manner.
The families also complained the army is forcing them to wait for hours, adding that those who eventually get to visit with their loved ones barely have a few minutes of visitation, and have to return home during very late night hours following a long day of waiting and humiliation.

The former political prisoner also said the majority of arrests took place in different parts of the occupied West Bank, while around 750 Palestinians have been kidnapped in occupied Jerusalem, and other areas in Historic Palestine.
More than 350 of the kidnapped Palestinians are now held under arbitrary Administrative Detention orders, without charge or trial.
Ferwana called on media outlets to continue their coverage on the plight of the Palestinian political prisoners, especially since they are subject to torture, ongoing assaults and abuse, during interrogation and after they are sent to prison, where they live under very difficult conditions in prisons that violate every principle of human rights and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
On Tuesday, August 26, The Palestinian Ministry of Detainees stated, in a report by Ferwana, that the number of Palestinians currently imprisoned by Israel is around 7000, and that it is constantly rising due to daily arrests.

Israel also refused to release the fourth and final phase of 30 veteran detainees, held before the Oslo Agreement of 1993, including detainee Karim Younis, who has been held by Israel for more than 30 years, and was supposed to be released along with the remaining veteran detainees by the end of last March.
However, Israeli broke its own vows, and violated the American-mediated agreement that was supposed to facilitate the resumption of direct political talks.
The Ministry of Detainees provided the following information:
1. 477 detainees are serving life terms.
2. 19 female detainees are currently imprisoned; the longest serving of them is Lina Jarbouni who was taken prisoner more than 12 years ago.

Palestinian female prisoners suffer accute shortage of clothes and blankets in Israeli jails as winter approaches, Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies said. Spokesman for the center Riad al-Ashqar said that the Israeli Prisoner Service (IPS) deliberately procrastinates in providing the female prisoners, held in Hasharon prison, with the sufficient winter clothing as part of its racist practices against Palestinian detainees.
He called on human rights institutions and the Red Cross organization to intervene immediately to provide the female prisoners with sufficient blankets and clothes before the advent of the winter season.
The center pointed out that the prisoner suffer very difficult conditions while being transferred to attend their court hearings where the transfers take place for long hours via “Bosta” in which prisoners are transported shackled to iron chairs in poorly ventilated transport vehicles.
Female prisoners are also denied from receiving letters from their families or solidarity activists, in addition to the deliberate medical negligence policy.

Detention of MPs renewed without charge
Israeli authorities have kidnapped 88 Palestinian citizens since the beginning of October, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Club. Additionally, the administrative detention orders of six Palestinian MPs have been renewed.
According to the Palestinian News Network, Prisoners Club officials announced Thursday that Israeli authorities have taken 88 Palestinian citizens into custody since the beginning of this month, with reference to legal records held by the club.
The highest percentage of imprisonment was accounted for in Hebron (25 prisoners), followed by Jerusalem (20 prisoners).
In Bethlehem the number reportedly reached 11, in Salfit 10, while the remaining prisoners were from the Nablus, Ramallah, Al Bireh, Tubas, Qalqilya and Tulkarm districts.
Also on Thursday, Israeli authorities renewed the administrative detention of six Palestinian Members of Parliament affiliated with the Hamas political movement, sources in the party told Ma'an News Agency.
The decision to keep the six lawmakers in detention without trial or charges reportedly comes after they already completed between three and six months each under similar conditions.
The MPs being held captive by Israel were identified as: Basim Zaarir, who will be held for six more months, Omar Abd al-Raziq, 3 more months, Azzam Salhab, 4 more months, Ibrahim Abu Salim, 4 more months, Fadil Hamdan, 3 more months, and former minister Issa Jaabari, 3 more months.

Abdul-Nasser Ferwana, a Palestinian researcher specialized in Detainees’ Affairs, stated that Israel is deliberately inflicting physiological harm on Palestinian political prisoners, amidst ongoing harassment, assaults and bad living conditions.
The former political prisoner, head of the Census Department of the Palestinian Committee of Detainees, said the constant violations have caused scores of detainees to suffer various psychological conditions.
On World Mental Health, marked on October 10, Ferwana stated that Israel is deliberately, and consistently, inflicting psychological harm, keeping the detainees held under very difficult conditions, facing constant harassment, besides repeated physical assaults.
“As the world marks World Mental Health Day, Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons continue to face very harsh living conditions, deprived of basic rights, including the right to medical and mental services,” he said.
“As the violations continue, the detainees and their families face increasing pressures that impact their mental and physical health,” he added. “They are denied the right to adequate mental and psychological care.”
He warned that, should the bad conditions and violations continue, they could have very serious impacts on all detainees, even after they are released.
Ferwana called on various international health organizations, local and international human rights groups, and UN organizations, to intervene and provide the detainees with the much-needed protection, and to ensure they are treated in accordance with all international human rights treaties.
He said the International Community needs to act, and oblige Israel to respect International Law.

The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) started on Thursday evening to tighten its restrictions on Muslims' access to the Aqsa Mosque, especially on those under age 50. Large troops of the Israeli occupation police cordoned off and closed the Mosque's gates and entrances, except for al-Majlis and Hatta gates.
The Israeli police confiscated the ID cards of many young men before allowing them to perform Al-Magharib prayers at the Mosque.
They also refused to return the identity cards of 11 young worshippers and asked them to take them back from al-Maskubiya detention center.
A few minutes before Al-Magharib prayers started at the Mosque, the Israeli occupation soldiers kidnapped a Palestinian youth and took him to al-Maskubiya center for interrogation without allowing his father and brother to accompany or even talk to him.
The Israeli policemen claimed to have enforced such security measures around the Islamic holy place for fear of riots following the Friday prayers.

Senior Hamas leader Mohamed Nazzal said his Movement would start soon a round of negotiations with Israel to swap prisoners, stressing that every piece of information about the number and conditions of Israeli detainees has a price. Nazzal said in remarks on his Facebook page that the Palestinian resistance has drawn lessons from previous experiences about not providing information on the number and conditions of Israeli prisoners for free.
He affirmed that Hamas would keep the Israeli captives in an unreachable safe place as it had done with soldier Gilad Shalit until reaching a deal with the Israeli side.
“I am confident that the sun of freedom will shine on our heroic prisoners” he concluded.
