Sheikh Majdi Abu al-Hija, whose house was demolished shortly before his arrest, affirmed that no question was directed to him during his detention that lasted for few days.
Abu al-Hija was arrested few days ago after the demolition of his home at the hands of Israeli soldiers.
"They brought me out and then asked me ironically if I want to take anything from my house after they completely destroyed it," he narrated.
His statement came during a press conference held Thursday on the ruins of his demolished home in Jenin few hours after his release.
“I was with my family when Israeli forces surrounded the home and the neighboring buildings at 9.30 pm. They then asked me through loudspeakers to get out along with my family members.”
"They took us to my neighbor’s home, and there they started asking me about each member of my family," he continued.
When I confirmed, he added, to the Israeli officer that no one of my family members remained inside our home, I heard five big explosions.
An Israeli bulldozer then arrived at the scene and started totally demolishing the home after targeting it with five rocket-propelled grenades.
The demolition process lasted till dawn hours. The Israeli soldiers then brought him out and asked him if he wants to take anything out of the destroyed home.
“I was taken to Salem military camp to be then moved to Dotan military camp and Megiddo prison where I spent few days before my release. No question was directed to me during my detention.”
Abu al-Hija declared during the conference his intention to prosecute the Israeli occupation authorities for the demolition of his home.
Abu al-Hija was released Thursday after three days of his detention and the demolition of his home under the pretext of “harboring wanted persons.”
Majdi Abu al-Hija, 46, is an ex-detainee who spent eight years in Israeli jails. His two brothers were killed by Israeli gunfire in 1993 and 2002.

Uday Isteiti
Head of the legal unit at the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS), Jawad Boulos, filed a complaint against the violations and torture tactics perpetrated by the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) against prisoner Uday Isteiti during his hunger strike in jail.
Lawyer Boulos said the PPS appealed to court over the torture and mistreatment prisoner Isteiti has been subjected to during his period of self-starvation in protest at being held administratively, with neither charge nor trial.
The PPS cited exhaustive inter-prison transfers, beatings, verbal assaults, and violations of freedom of worship as the most striking instances of the torture polices inflicted on the detainee on several occasions.
Prisoner Isteiti, 24, had gone on a 42-day hunger strike, which he suspended on July 29 after the Israeli prison authorities promised to release him on October 20.
Lawyer Boulos added that he has been keeping tabs on earlier court cases filed some few days ago over the dire detention circumstances endured by Palestinian detainees in the Israeli Meggido lock-up, including insect swarms, over-crowdedness, poor ventilation, and unfit toilets.
Meanwhile, the Israeli prison administration transferred the Palestinian detainee Sami Abu Diak, 33, from the Ramon jail to the Sorroka hospital in Negev after his health had sharply deteriorated.
According to the PPS, inmate Abu Diak has been held in the intensive care unit at the Sorroka hospital, where preliminary medical check-ups diagnosed him with acute hepatitis, cholecystitis, and pancreatitis in anticipation of final diagnoses.
Prisoner Abu Diak, has spent 13 years out of three life sentences and a 30 year-term in the Israeli occupation prisons.

Israeli Minister of Culture, Miri Regev, has said that the Israeli army should have shot the Palestinian women who saved Mohammad al-Tamimi from abuse by an Israeli soldier. The incident took place during the Nabi Saleh village’s weekly demonstration against the illegal confiscation of their land, according to a report in Midde East Monitor.
In a Facebook statement, she said that the unarmed protesters should have been shot. Regev called on Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to change the army’s policy on the use of live-fire because of the “humiliation” the soldier endured.
“We need to decide immediately that a soldier that is attacked is permitted to return fire. Period. I call on the minister of security to put an end to the humiliation and change the open fire regulations immediately!”
“Anyone who tries to harm Israeli civilians and soldiers needs to know his blood is in his head,” Regev continued, using a Hebrew expression to convey that the Palestinians who assaulted the soldier are fair game for shooting.
Israeli forces took the parents of the boy into custody on Tuesday.
